Anyone know of any good ones?
- kalkal0
dpreview for technical stuff but no one ever answers me on there. So I guess it's not that good.
- bigtrick0
no.
photo.net, dpreview.com, fredmiranda.com are some bad ones though. 80% gear fetishists 20% old fogeys on photo.net, 100% gear fetishists on the latter two.
i find that aphotoeditor.com is the only community of photographers and people from related industries that isn't full of hobbyists with opinions. not a forum though, but a blog.
- Aphotoeditor is the best source for business related information to date. IStian

that's what I figured. I reckon Flickr and a few good books would be the best route.

jayoh what are you looking for specifically? Photography is such a broad term these days.
- o hai dibec!

- will we get to see them? better late than never.bigtrick
- yes, absolutely. I relocated this Summer and it was a hot mess. half my socks are down here, the other half up there. herm.dibec

I was inquiring for my wife who is an amateur photographer - she just got a Nikon 90 and it does way more than she knows what to do with :)
I just got her set up with Flickr and sent her that link to luminous landscape (looks good BTW thanks!)

The greatest problem with photo forums is the endless gibberish tech talk about cameras. Avoid it like the plague, as it won't get you anywhere.
p.s. This is coming from the biggest photo tech nerd off all time.
- absolutely.
its ok to discuss tech, but it gets so whiney and doesn't make anyone a pro!Hombre_Lobo - true datjayoh
- absolutely.

also, any book by Tom Ang is going to be pretty solid.

Still looking for a good photography forum. I just noticed the luminous-landscape forum so I'm going to look into that one.
I just noticed this too: http://www.imagephoto.org/ seems to be something else I've been looking for. A place to post pics and have people critique them, I really want that.
btw I picked this book up a few weeks ago and I love it!
they also make this one which I will probably pick up:
