#thedarkknightrises technical info: The ending sequence is soo secret that only 5 (Includ Nolan) know it and will be done completely in vfx.

^ Yeah I read the end of the movie is apparently very CGI heavy. No idea what it is though.

The end of TDK had a lot of CGI too with those eye filter sonar things batman had.

I'm guessing that in the UK and in NYC, Pitts. and LA will all be digitally enhanced, taking out major features that show the true marks of those cities. I could be wrong, but that's my theory, as to keep one generic Gotham. All those blatant city shots of NYC and Pitts. for example, you can tell right off the bat, those are those cities. That football game, I mean you can tell where that is.
- you're right brobrandelec
- Why? They didnt bother to do that with Chicago in TDK. B-man was standing on Sears tower!CygnusZero4

popfodders,
One thing that annoyed me about one of them was the Chase bank logo visible on the Chase building in Chicago. I believe Mr. Batman stands on that building, or a camera angle flies past it.

Shit, ohhh yeah, well WTF, do they think, "we'll only people from Chicago will know it's Chicago!?!" Or UK, NYC, Pitts and LA in this one?

I just think they really care if some things are recognizable. It must be a ridiculous amount of work to try to mask an entire city in movies this big.
Tim Burton managed to do it, but he also puts more effort into the look of his films than most directors are willing to do. Noone can recognize anything in that first batman movie as far as I know. Thats Burtons thing, creating fantasy worlds that dont actually exist.
Nolan just tries to tell good stories. If some things are recognizable I ddont think he loses any sleep over it. Burton would never allow that though.
- *they DONT really care.CygnusZero4
- Yeah, it makes sense dude, but just makes me wonder about that side of it,********

I just look at these movies as being fantastically written and directed, with the one major blemish of the look of gotham looking a little lame.
In Batman Begins it had the Narrows, that really grimey looking place, which I thought was awesome, but in TDK they got rid of that and all we were left with was basically Chicago. Some scenes look great of course, but the city itself isnt exactly very exciting to look at.
It's the only real fault I can find in these movies.
- Basically just that the city itself doesnt look or feel like batman to me.CygnusZero4

Ha, I completely agree. I'm looking at some of these winter shots that leaked out on sunny days and think to myself, "WTF, that's not Batman, that's something else...!?"
Other than that, IMO, Dark Knight was sooooooooo damn good and well shot.
Also, didn't he go to Hong Kong, so Nolan just threw a real city into it at a whim.
- CygnusZero40
Yeah he went to Hong Kong. I dont think Nolan is very interested in building a whole new city out of sets with tons of miniatures like Burton did. He just wants to tell a good story, have it look realistic, so he shoots most of this in real cities.
I wouldnt worry about those set shots. I remember set shots for TDK, they didnt look anything like the final movie. They do a bit of post work so what you see will look very different in the actual movie.
- In fact when you see this movie your going to be surprised at how much you dont recognize.CygnusZero4

New York and Chicago are easily identifiable.
But do people know what Pittsburgh looks like???
From those photos above, it looks pretty much like any other second or third-tier American city.- right, but the major buildings and what not, but yes most not. Like my Chicago comment********
