CS3 has been my favourite for a while - got cs4 and 5 and not that keen on either...
Love all the mac users complaining about crashes - funny you always say macs don't crash... hahahaha- it's not a system crash like on windows. it's just the programs. CAUSE IT HAS BUGS!akrokdesign
- if adobe would do their fucking jobs right. there shouldn't be any problems.akrokdesign

Worth the money? I use CS3 at home cause I can't afford to upgrade all my trapcode shit yet, but use CS5 at work cause the bill is on the agency. Guess that's just the reality of finance.
If i were freelance full-time, I'd invest CS5 w/ Trapcode updates and write off.

mine works fine and in fact i am really liking the new changes.
Although i use InDesign and Illustrator almost exclusively. Love the native file support; took them long enough to get that shit working correctly. ..

I am still on CS3 with no desire/need to upgrade as it can still outperform me.

LOVE Illustrator CS5

At least it's not CS4, fuck sake what a pile of crap.

I dread opening illustrator because of how much memory it takes.

Here's a couple of things I love.
Flash's interface won't break down every time you need to open, save or import. Try that in CS4.Illustrator's stroke widening tool. God, that's nice.
What I don't like: This isn't new but Photoshop won't let go of RAM after purging and closing every file. After Effects can purge the whole load of shit every time you try.
- AE even has a purge button in the menu.
Fucking love AE, kicks the shit out of the rest of the suiteanimatedgif - AE has always been their best program.CyBrainX

Illy and Indesign CS5 just crashes every time I open it.. just started happening for no reason... got to love that.. PS just freezes when looking to preferences... even though I delete the preferences file every time.. and of course it happens when I'm on a tight deadline...
- Gotta be a pref conflict. Did you modify them? For afx, multiprocessing is mega buggy bro. Avoid it for now.nthkl

Get an SSD, none of the CS5 apps take longer than 3 seconds to load for me.
I used to get a few crashes in photoshop with too many images open but it's fine now I have 4GB.

I'm still on the first cs version... and it works flawlessly

I absolutely love it but recently I've noticed Photoshop hogging memory while very little is being done.
If I do a bunch of editing or creative work, then close all those documents and start afresh, the usage is still stupidly high. I think there's a memory leak in it somewhere.

Regarding CS5 and ram, checkout pg 3... http://www.adobe.com/products/ph…
Ya gotta be on a 64bit setup Combined with CS5 though, :\

A solid state hard drive was upgraded on the computer on the right. It is like a flash memory drive, with no moving parts. Read/write times are 2-3 times faster than conventional rotating disc hard drives.
- Looks like a big improvement and easy to do... maybe I'll try that with my old laptop...ItalianStallion

cs5 is blazin on my 4gb imac for me, much better than cs3 on the older imac.

But...is it worth the $,$$$.$$?
- I'd say yes. $100-200 now will return with saved time. Especially when it's 4am. :( sorta like right now.nthkl

before i went out on my own, i was freelancing with cs5 at home - and using cs3 at work... going to work felt like traveling back in time. good thing is that they're still on cs3 there, so send me files all the time to save back for them, $.
