I am not anti flash. I am not anti apple. I am just surprised at how many clients say up front no flash.
I was wondering about the trend in clients saying they didn't want flash. Is anyone else seeing this or should we continue to talk about flash vs. no flash
- Sorry. Yes, I have had a couple clients ask for 'no flash.'nb
- funny, i develop flash and I find myself talking potential clients out of using flash a lot of the timesmoldero
- im to honest to be a proper salesman i guessmoldero

The reason your clients want no flash is because they succumbed to the idiotic HTML5 hype.. once they realize they can't do like 1/3rd of the shit they wanted they'll be going back to Flash..
I just had at least agencies asking me for Flash folks to hire full time..
It'll pass and it's up to you to explain to them that HTML5 is just a few tags, it's not supported almost anywhere and almost 90% of the web is not unified..
When you present facts to them, and suggest they just make an iPad fallback that's simplified they realize what the deal is.

No Flash is good let this trend go on.

It will be 8-10 years before HTML5 is the standard. Again I am not anti-flash, I'm just surprised at how many people recently, with no technical background mind you, state upfront 'No Flash'.
I am not a designer by the by.

I am surprised to. I just got a "so what do you think of HTML5?" question. I just say it like I see it: possibly, but so far there is nothing, anywhere, that comes close to the advantages of Flash.
So, for now, until Jobs gets his head out of his ass (I do still think they'll be 'forced' to implement as the end users become aware that it is a bs argument, but I am guessing Apple hopes that it is so late by then that they will have caused enough of a stir to control more of the market).
Redirects seem to be the best way. You can look at that as #1 - a headache, ass pain and/or #2 a little more work clients will need going forward

lol,
apparently Adobe has been reading this thread
and just updated flash for android,
now it runs even better and has less lag when you're on a heavy page like endgadget.+1 to Adobe

The only people upset about Anti-Flash are Flash developers.
- - STUPIDEST COMMENT OF THE MONTH - because the whole debate was about flash not running well on the ipadgeorgesIII

Yeah mate,
we're angry, because our clients are getting lied to, thus making our work harder,
we're angry, because there are millions of fools who don't know how to change a lightbulb but are suddenly all tech critics,
we're angry, because instead of taking 2 hours making a behavior that will work pretty much the same on all browsers,
we have to spend days troubleshooting problems,
we're angry because you, Animatedgif don't have a fuckn clue what you're are talking about but feel entitled to make your lame comeback heard, without really explaining why flash on a tablet is actually bad?- georgesIII you are boring the shit out of us with your pro Flash rants, talk about something elseernexbcn
- How about we talk about your MOM!!! hehehehegeorgesIII

Just my two cents - but if the job calls for a more interactive site in a browser than you do it with the right tool for the job. The only thing that ought to be dead is MS Silverlight. Evaluate their needs and audience then SELL them on the right product.
We ought to be selling our clients on developing mobil sites along side what ever traditional website they need. Because frankly the user experience of browsing web pages on touch screens sucks, I don't care if it's android or iOS. I'd rather use an App. Ever tried using QBN on an iPad? Fucking sucks.
Haven't had the opportunity to try a flash site on an android device so I can only speculate, but unless it's designed for a touch interface, I can't imagine it's an ideal interaction. I'm open to check it out though.
In the end, It just seems like we have more options to sell our clients on, which means more work for us all. And isn't that a good thing.

I actually think apps suck. I mean some are cool but it's ridiculous to make an android app, and ipad app, AND a mobile site.
I don't miss flash that much on my android phone. I don't miss it that much on my iPad. As far as apps go my android phone is loaded with free useful apps that allow me to actually be productive. My phone does not have flash installed.
My iPad has 600 books I got off of QBN and very little else. I am very underwhelmed by it's usefulness and a bit worried that apple is going to push this same system for mac apps.

a lot if apps are wack. at some point people will realized that it sucks to use an app that juggles to a video app, instead of just using a browser. they're a great money waster tho.
