Have used it. Liked it. Its not something to pick up now. Its really going the way of the dodo.
- Majority of clients on it have already, or are in the process of migrating to .NET.ETM
- how is .net better
brodster - .Net is a whole framework rather than just a single language. Hard to compare fairly.ETM
- In a way, that statement is not accurate itself, but its a lot to get into.ETM
- ASP.NET does a wonderful job of separating the app logic from the presentation.ETM

The language is awesome. succinct, and intuitive. Hosting costs a mint though. It was the first language I learned after html. Coldfusion seems to have been more relevant 5-6 years ago. Now with open source languages with cheap hosting solutions that permeate the landscape, it's kind of killing itself.
For instance: We struggled getting google custom autocomplete to work - worked great in php, but wasn't working right in cfm... or connecting flash to a database w/ coldfusion - I remember it being easier in 2003, but it seemed unnecessarily complicated.

Like confusion... but colder.

agree with bulletfactory. 5-6 years ago, it was amazing. but the cost of hosting, and the fact that you always had to find php solutions where coldfusion just wasnt there yet, i ended up moving towards php and never looked back.
i was learning coldfusion and php basically at the same time, cause there were so many things that php could do easier (at least alot more resources and examples online to be found)
