My team wants to make a switch from Photoshop to Fireworks. I don't know what it is, but I really hate designing in Fireworks.
Any good examples of why NOT to switch to Fireworks?

i've never heard arguments for ps over fireworks (i assume because of its popularity no one into ps ventures out) but i have heard several arguments for fireworks over ps, one of which being rounded corners

Fireworks creates the best web ready images.
Transparent images come out really clean and seamless in Fireworks, whereas photoshop tends to get choppy with transparency.
I don't think that Fireworks can replace the multifaceted PS though. For Raw camera files and adjustments it's an indispensable tool.
The two should work together not against each other.
- RAW = Lightroomhonestly
- PS is best for color correcting and effects + retouching. that's about it. FW is best for design.lambsy
- transparency in photoshop can be flawless.. as the internet meme goes.. 'you're doing it wrong'Hench
- Why would you design in photoshop or fireworks?Pumpkin_baby
- FW is best for web design. what do you use?lambsy
- pen and paper, then a mix of illustrator and fireworks.Pumpkin_baby
- than that answers your question. thank you come again.lambsy
- I don't design in Fireworks, I optimize for web.Pumpkin_baby
- I've found new information on Fireworks, I've been enlightened. Thanks!Pumpkin_baby
- Fireworks is for the technical minded, Photoshop is for those who want to create and craft!CodenameAM

After 12+ years of using Photoshop, I cringed to learn Fireworks from the ground up. After about a year of using Fireworks full-time, I could never switch back for web work.

what will you do if the freelancer sends the file as PSD?

I have never understood this, they are completely different in so many ways. I used to work at an agency and used Photoshop all the time. I then went and joined a Corporate company as an inhouse designer and had to used Fireworks.
My views of Fireworks have changed massively and it can be very quick at doing certain things, but it will never be Photoshop and for me, I would never design a website in Firework as I just don't think it has the crafting and detail levels needed to make great design.
Also, having friends at Adobe, I think Fireworks will soon be heading to the Pearly gate of application heaven and Photoshop will carry some of it's weight.
- < what he says. Agree completely. Bye bye Fireworks. It'll all be integrated into PS.fyoucher1

look at it like this: fw is bitmap AND vector in the same app! if it's for web/screen only, you will be fine.

best reason not to use fireworks: it's just like designing in flash.

Like the team of people that put a website layout together in illustrator so that it could "scale if needed"
