Adobe are just plain daft and annoying. Why have they added all this fluff and fancy stuff that will hardly ever get used because it's not been designed properly. Yet, despite having the time to do that, they continue to miss out the basics of what would make this software more enjoyable to use.
That is the ability to add multiple key frames in one go.
Surely that's not too difficult? It should be simple, just a choice of frames to add, or seconds. With the option to add it at the playback point, selected frame or time.
With this added (and a few other basics) Flash would be a top-notch piece of software.
You can't build a fancy house without having good foundations, otherwise it'll just crumble.

The timeline is for chumps - but this is totally possible, try blaming yourself instead of the software next time?

How is it possible? Hitting F5 umpteen times?
Why is the timeline for chumps?- that's add blank keyframe - you want f6 - you chump ;-)kingsteven
- f7 for blankkingsteven

multiple key frames are easy to add. select the range of frames where you want them and hit your f6 key.

lol@the timeline!

the timeline is good, don't listen to them.

the timeline is fine... I was just being a dick...
... do what nuggler said... ... F6 will give you a new keyframe but not add any frames... F7 will add a new keyframe and extend the timeline by one frame

They did do this, and fucked it up because they're so fucking incompetent. It's like if someone made a butchered version of the AE timeline that was like complete torture to use.And in the process they also broke the traditional timeline so you can no longer select multiple frames if they are at the end of a tween (the resize arrow appears and denies your selection) yet it works if you just add an extra frame after.

Timeline is essential for compositions. If you slide a box back and forth and make things fade in and out, go use your elitist programmic tweens.
I miss CS3. If I ever need to really get into the timeline again I'm reinstalling that.

Not one timeline animation....

Gahhhh! I use the timeline for just about every project I do!!! I mix up timeline and programmatic tweens though, however I see works best.
I wouldn't consider that beachhouse site linked above 'animation', it's just simple slides with some type of easing effect added on. That's not what the timeline should be used for. The timeline is for doing complex masks, effects, shapes, shape tweens, bones, or anything with complex timing. Problem with using only a tweening engine is that EVERY project starts feeling and moving the same (or some kind of variation of an easing equation).
As for missing Flash functionality's, look into JSFL/Flash extensions and making Flash do what you want to do. I have a massive collection of Flash add-ons that people have created throughout the years that I can't live without (they should be built into Flash but aren't). I think I even have a command to do what you want to do.
