I was a chronic smoker from my late teens to my late twenties, now that I'm in my thirties I hardly smoke. The older I got the more anxiety I would get, I couldn't be around people in lift lines, movies, concerts, and parties while high. Maybe the weeds getting stronger, maybe my tolerance isn't what it used to be maybe I'm just maturing.
I still keep it around but now it takes 6 months to go through an eighth when 10 years ago that would be a normal weekend.- i thought it was supposed to calm anxiety. guess not?SteveJobs
- its because youre getting more uptight, see i love weed thread for explanationDodecahedron
- Lift lines? Ski lift lines?? Omg best place for paranoia. I love that feeling.them

look, it affects everyone differently, if its not for you cool, but why all the negativity here? if you have paranoid tendencies, it will be amplified, if you have chill tendencies, you'll be more chill.... yes of course too much of anything can make you an addict, but I dont see people calling in fast food, alcohol, cigarettes(#1 disgusting and senseless habit to me!). It is a natural plant that ANYONE can shake the effects with 30 days of not partaking, meanwhile tobacco and alchohol can and does ruin your body and some harms are not reversible, and who doesnt know someone who just cant seem to kick the smoking habit?

I would like to build an online biz. Will weed help?

+1 for the used-to-be-chronic-but-not-so-mu... (too strong) cause.
i got nothing against weed. growers just gotta chill. i've tried "mellow" strains but its still too potent, maybe age is infact a factor.
- inkpink0
even David Suzuki is saying its too strong...
http://www.cbc.ca/documentaries/…
"... But there's an intriguing twist to the story: in the process of cultivating more potent strains of pot, growers have also been breeding out a little-known ingredient called cannabidiol that seems to buffer the effects of THC. So today's high-octane pot actually contains a double-whammy - more psychosis-producing THC, and less of the protective CBD or cannabidiol."
- i can't beleive even suzuki is talking about weed inducing phycosis, its not correct. it makes preexisting psychosis like schizophrenia temporarily worseDodecahedron
- schizophrenia worse ... temporarily.Dodecahedron
- the CBDs are lovely, I never understood the stuff that was like smoking acid..mikotondria3

the only paranoia i get is the "do i smell like weed?" thing.
for whatever reason some vanilla folks detect the slightest bit of pot in the air and they immediately lose their minds and make a scene. i sat down next to this one asian lady on a train once and she crossed herself before praying at me and making a big thing out of putting her scarf over her face...
fucking weird people
- i hadn't even smoked it yet, it was just in my pocketscarabin
- thats pretty harsh. I'm sure I've reeked of it in public and no one does anything.Dodecahedron

I went through the same thing... I was a heavy smoker from late teens to mid twenties and then I met a fantastic girl who made me think twice about my future and up and quit cold turkey.
In the two years i've been sober from weed i've often reflected on how incredibly wasteful the cycle of getting high was for me. I've accomplished more in 1.5 years than I did in 7 while being high.
I'm not going to lie and say that on the odd occasion I get a whiff of the chronic I don't get tempted to take a hit but on a whole I think life is much richer without it.
- I think there's a middle ground between heavy smoker and none at all. just sayin'zarkonite

Why even talk about it?
It's like saying: "Beer? Good or bad?"

fully agree with bombay, but at the same time you can't deny that weed is pretty much a different drug than it was even 10 years ago. these days i wouldn't regularly smoke anything that didn't come from my own backyard or a trusted friend's.
at least that's the situation up here in BC.
some consistency and regulation of the potency - as with alcohol - might actually be a good thing.

A join every once in a while is good.

before getting married and having kids (about 11 years ago now) i used to smoke up quite regularly with my roomates at the time...most nights...smoke a joint or two between us, watch a movie or something..that sort of thing....i personally found it pretty fun.
only really gave it up because after getting married, it just wasn't really a part of my daily routine anymore...just as going out to the pubs every night after work was suddenly out....
don't really miss either....it was fun at the time, and i don't regret it or anything...but going to the gym in the evening once the kids are in bed and being able to wake up in the morning and fix my kids breakfast seems more important these days ;)

I used to love weed too then I moved to a country were it was hard getting it and slowly the need to get high faded away,Now I don't smoke anymore (more like once every 6 month) but would never blame others for doing so :)
