I was glad to see him lose too, he needed to be taken down a notch, and Velasquez did it convincingly. That gash on Lesnar's face at the end was nasty.
When the ref called it the entire pub went bananas, I think most people there wanted Lesnar to lose.
Kampmann was robbed, too.

POW POW POW. Lesnar got punked.

yeh everyone was going nuts here.... but i'm in south fla... and 99% of the ppl are cuban (lol)
glad to see lesnar lose, he's too cocky and arrogant....
kampmann lost that match dude... jake took him down at will.... no way in hell kampmann wins that.... no way.... boring fight though.
diego sanchez fight was awesome too..... the primal yell when he slammed the dude was friggin awesome.
- Sanchez fight was the best of the night IMOGlitterati_Duane
- jake took him down at will, then he got right backup at will and punched him lots... he was robbed.BuddhaHat
- but yeah it was boring... sanchez fight was much more entertainingBuddhaHat

I didn't see the fights last night, but I'm happy Lesnar lost. I don't like the element he brings to the UFC - the fake wrestling element. I wish I could've seen Diego fight, glad to hear he's back on track.
- Lesnar is one of the best wrestlers in the world. That being said, I still hate the guy.Amicus

animal sport. mankind is going to hell in a handbasket if this crap is mainstream.
- Oh get off your high horse.TheBlueOne
- The Ancient Greeks wrestled and boxed and they were the cornerstone of west civTheBlueOne

- lol UFC is nothing... PRIDE was way more brutal than UFCdconstrukt

@TBO...get your head out of your backside. Boxing is bad enough, but this is just an excuse for people to belt the shit out of each other under the guise of 'sport'. If that's a high horse, pass me a saddle.
Ancient Greeks also practiced vile acts on young children...perhaps these are things we should also resurrect.
- Obviously someone who has never tried his hand at learning this or other manly pursuits.TheBlueOne
- I'll take my head out of my ass when you physically put it there. Good luck.TheBlueOne

Being that there's only 9 posts to this thread (currently), I'd say it's not the most popular topic. Fair enough. So if it doesn't suit you, then beat it, kid.
*Takes into account the Sunday night doldrums.

@Busterboy
Combative sports have existed for thousands of years, worldwide in almost every culture across the globe. To quote Georges St Pierre (one of the athletes in the sport) : "I think there are two kinds of fans, there are the fans that like only to see a brawl, and there are the type of fans who know the game and know what's going on".
You may see it as one thing, some may see it as something else. The more you understand about the sport, the less 'animal' it becomes.- each to their own td...but don't pretend it's anything than legalised thuggeryBusterBoy

"Ancient Greeks also practiced vile acts on young children.."
You post in the politics thread as some sort of conservative don't you? How am I not shocked by your thinking.
Oh well, in that case I guess we should give up everything those dirty, filthy greeks gave us then. Epic poetry, out. Geometry? Out. Democracy, trial by jury, Socrates, Plato, philosophy,Tragedy, Comedy, Olympics, music theory, basics of military strategy...oh my...but of course, they did some sort of nebulous, generic "vile" acts on children, unlike say, I don't know....hmmmm... China where they have child labor and probably made the computer you are using to type your trolly troll responses. Guess you should give up your computer because it's made by those filthy CHinese who do vile things to children.
- Silly TBO. You made the analogy...I just thought it was strange that's allBusterBoy

Socially speaking, I think we're going down the wrong path with gladiatorial sports like this. What I think will be interesting is to see what they do when the first fatality or paralysis is caused at the top level of the sport. Will they stop it, or will the crowds cheer for more carnage?
Either way, I f***in love it.

@Busterboy - I used to think the same thing... and on somewhat of a whim, I enrolled in a training gym to learn more about it. I never watched it on TV really, but I was interested in learning a martial art, and part of the classes were on Jiujit-su.
I quickly learned how much tecnique it is. Now, there are fighters who just brawl and want to hurt poeple. I haven't met one of them yet, and chance are I'd stay away from them. The place I train everyone is happy and respectful. No one wants to hurt the other person. In the rare situations when someone is hurt, the class stops and makes sure the person is ok.The US audience wants to see blood, and boo's the technical fights, which is a shame. Makes me angry that many US folks just want to see a brawl, but it is what is it.
I don't think the sport is as animalistic as you make it, but the fans may be :)
- jfletcher0
@BuddhaHat - sadly I think someone dying will boost PPV's becasue people will be interested and morbid to see it again. I'm a huge fan of pro wrestling... but I love the old school matches where there is a story without someone getting chairs and tables out. Where wrestlers use their storytelling skills to get the crowd going crazy, not jumping off a 12-ft ladder.... I don't like spot-fest wrestling where poeple risk breaking their necks with each move... but it's become more of that becasue people want to see it.
I'll take a good ol' Bret Hart/British Bulldog match anyday!
- Amicus0
I don't watch for the blood, but for the skill, technique, training athleticism and strategy. I've been learning karate for over 7 years now having earned my black belt and use the UFC as just another way to continue that learning.
What would KO or kill someone unaccustomed or unprepared barely phases these guys.
As a pacifist I would never use my skills and training unless I needed to defend myself, but I do enjoy training hard with someone skilled, someone who can push me to the edge and bring the best out of me. I guess that's what gets these guys up in the morning for training.
If something isn't for you, ignore it unless it actually impacts your life.

I personally like UFC for the sport and fun of it but I find there is a conflict of interest when I consider how in bed the military is in with the UFC for promotion and propaganda.
That being said Lesnar got beat up last night. Velasquez looked great but I was hoping for a good long fight.
- Invalid0
@Dodecahedron
I wouldn't say they're "in-bed". it's the same as the military advertising in gaming magazines. they know where their demographic is, so they pay for the airtime.
- They train together and a lot the fighters are/were in the military and have even fought in IraqDodecahedron
- UFC gets millions from the military. I don't think its right at all especially considering what they're doing in IraqDodecahedron
- In a perfect world the military wouldn't be allowed to market themselves at all in a commercial mass market sort of way. Just not the case unfortunately.Dodecahedron
- ...way. Unfortunately thats not the case.Dodecahedron
- I find military's involvement in gaming just as disturbing. Its more than marketing, its psychological conditioningDodecahedron

I think Brock started too aggressively, probably from his arrogance but overexhausted while the other guy tactifully kept knocking at his brains leading to his downfall.
