@ raf. I don't think all Apple products not targeting designers are crap. I'm just not a fan of the Air. The lack of CD drive and other peripherals make it annoying for casual users too. For me it was one product that bought into the stereo type of Apple products being more flash than substance.
- It was built with 1 main purpose (as its name says itself): to be lightweight. It's perfect for ie. women who otherwise...raf
- ...would have to run around with a 3 kilogram bulky laptop. It is perfect. If CD is needed, can be attached.raf
- Sorry about repeating "perfect", there are more Steveese words: phenomenal, remarkable, magical, etc...raf

Non-pirated Adobe CS running on Mac OS.
Is it safe to assume less than 2% market share?- ...or a legit student version to start, then cheap updatesTenaciousG
- it's closer to 40%/60% Adobe couldn't survive without Mac sales for nowPIZZA
- Pizza, I meant 2% market share of all PCs.randommail

I don't care if they put out crappy products like the air if the hypnotized masses will buy them and keep Apple in business. As long as they keep making Mac Pro's as well I'm good.
- See? Air is a great computer but it can't run photoshop, it's not for you, so you must slag it.raf
- Yep. I primarily use my computers for work so...Glitterati_Duane
- Apple product not meant for you = shit? So many designers here have this approach.raf

"if you ask me they don't look after there best customers - us."
Hahahaa... Apple regained their strong position when they started to ignore designers and started to look after the average user.
They officially declared the pareto principle to be their rule: cater for 80% of regular users, ignore 20% of power users.
Do you think iMacs would be glossy if they were meant for professional work? Hahaha...
Yet still, designers think Apple is supprosed to work for them and they get angry when Apple releases a product which is clearly not meant for them (ie. MacBook Air).

Im siding with the company that looks after my industry wether it's microsoft or Apple, i'm not bound by shiny machines but support for what I do to make a living. I am a user of Macs for 15 years, but they are arses, if you ask me they don't look after there best customers - us.

Apple is trying to turn the internet into a packaged, glossy, cheesy giant itunes store for the current corporate status quo. Apple fans don't see it because they are dazzled by their shiny new products. I'd rather switch my alliances to Microsoft or Google any day of the week. Bring it on.

I hope Apple will release their version of Photoshop-like software they had been secretly working on in their basement for 20 years, just like they worked on Intel-running OSX.
Considering that they have Final Cut and Aperture, how unlikely is this?

This would be a bit like General Motors buying Ford - it would be good for investors for about 5 seconds, then the company crashes and burns.
No one at either company could be this stupid... I hope.

Oh, please let it be true. The bloated, insecure buggyness of Microsoft combined with the bloated, insecure buggyness of Adobe. This would cause Flash to be banned by most sane organisations on security grounds, problem solved.
All we need to hear is that Apple have a skunkworks version of Photoshop in the pipeline and the world becomes a better and happier place.
Regrettably, as ukit said, even Microsoft can't be that stupid.

In all seriousness though, I can't really see this happening.
The new Windows phone OS launches next week. How would acquiring Adobe and then having to go through the long process of integrating the companies' products help them compete with Apple and Google? It seems like it would slow Microsoft down at a critical moment more than anything else.
- it'll be like the Danger acquision. but an even bigger clusterfuck.kpl

Good thing I decided to move to Ubuntu/Linux years ago. Depending on Microsoft, Apple and Adobe was driving me nuts.
Gimp and Inkscape aren't that bad when you get used to them. In fact, Inkscape is awesome if you also code stuff. And being able to deploy Javascript sites using a simple texteditor is just heaven.

I hope that Microsoft ban all Adobe applications from Apple computers .. no more Photoshop -> hahah .. take that Jobs.
- we would hear than how GIMP is actually much better than Photoshop when used on OSX :)Boz
- the wet dreams fanboys from the other side.kpl
- You guys seriously want to be forced to use Windows? *face, palmedukit
- yep, quite an emotional and bitter response huh? If that's not fanboy then I don't know what is.kpl

I blame all of you who kept posting unfounded negative shit about Apple/ Steve Jobs and acted like it was the end of the world because the iPad didn't run Flash.
Adobe read all that shit and thought they had an opportunity to try and sideline Apple. And now thanks to you, we have PhotoOffice® Expression 2Advanced Excel Cuntfucker® Home Edition® to look forward to. Thanks. Thanks a lot.
