Hey guys! I'm looking for a good (yet still fairly affordable) home printer for my photos. I am tired of sending them to print online or try local printers...

I was thinking of Epson, but wanted to check with you all. What printer would you recommend (that prints at least 11x14s)

    Brands? Model? Links?

    Thanks!!

I've been looking into printers too. thinking about the epson 1400 or the R1900 (but that one costs a couple hundred more)

Be interested in hearing peoples opinions on either of them.

    • I always had Epson previously, always worked great for me.oey

I recently bought a Canon, Pixam iP 2700, just to print some proofs and "sketches" while working at home. I have an Epson scanner, I'm very happy with it, so it was a mistake from the start. I completely didn't understand that it was a two cartridge ink system, second mistake. The third mistake was the fact that I've read that you have to count the number of times the light pulses to know what is going on in case of an error occurs. But I really thought it had some quality because Canon have photo machines and blablabla...sometimes my brain stops.

I have an epson 2200 - it's 3 generations old by now, but it prints out some smooth-ass pictures. It does band a lot if you don't print regularly, and the ink is expensive. It prints up to 13x19 sheet (and takes pretty much every sort of media), and it also prints roll stock - you can get a cutter attachment for it for this purpose. 6 ink cartridges, prints are supposed to last 100 years.

by now you can get an epson r2400, the successor (2 gens old) for $300 used - this may be a good option. the current printer in this line is the r2880 ($600 new).

epsons are notorious for getting clogged up. i HIGHLY recommend getting a canon printer. if you can drop $400, get their pixma pro 9000 mk ii. it can do 13x19 borderless. the only drawback the canon has vs the epson's of the same price range, is that epson has a much more diverse selection of paper stocks. i'm very happy with canon's tho.
