just wondering how many designers here actually own a gun? i'm thinking of getting a Glock 17, H&K USP9 or Sig P226
- iCanHasQBN0
more importantly, what color is it going to be and how big is the logo that's on it?

I've shot the p226 and p220 sao and love the 220. Was more fun to shoot and a lot more accurate, in my hands at least. I really wanna go to a range where you can shoot up watermellons and bottles and stuff. Paper targets get old quick =)

Call me the devils advocate here, but what would be the purpose for getting a gun, just to feel cool? If you don't actually do what most people who buy guns do, go hunting, aren't you more or less paying for something you'll never use?
Unless you forsee going on an urban rampage/ revenge spree Charles Bronson style.
Might as well get a really cool crossbow or a fuckin medieval mace or something...
- preparing for the zombie uprising of 2012dorf
- or a machete. or several machetes.bigtrick
- i'm a reservist and we only shoot live rounds 4 times a year so i figured it would a hobby that might be somewhat useful someday lolairscape
- Oh well if you're in the military fair enough...arm yourself to teeth. I just get sick of people bragging about guns when they'd never actually use one.ukit
- they'd never actually use one and its just a status symbol or something.ukit

or a tokyo marui and ping beer cans in your garage

I used to own a sword I bought at one of those medieval fair things...now I'm trying to figure out what the hell happened to it.
You never know when some crackhead might try to break into your place and you need a sword to ward them off...
- iCanHasQBN0
sure, buy a gun. then put it in your mouth and pull the trigger.
- wtf?SteveJobs
- He might get hurt if he did thatukit
- yes, and i recommend every gun owner do this.iCanHasQBN
- i suppose you would recommend this to your local police force as well? the anarchists would <3 youairscape
- as far as the police force goes, they don't have to use lethal weapons to detain people.iCanHasQBN
- rubber bullets should be standard (these are enough to stop someone) + the use of tazers.iCanHasQBN

for self-defense, ehhh.. for sport, sure. i don't own one, but can appreciate the value in that context. target practice aint much different than throwing a basketball at a hoop - so as long as you're responsible what's the harm?
- ukit0
Oh yeah no harm of course, just thought that if you go to a shooting range can't you just rent a gun from the place itself most of the time?
And I'm having trouble picturing any designer up in the woods chasing peasant or crouching under a tree tracking a deer, although I could be wrong...:) In any case, Glock probably wouldn't be the best weapon for that.
- i hunt. and i eat/give away what i hunt. i also design.bjladams

Well, If you say it's just for sport, you can buy (or they should MAKE) guns that are harmless, but do relatively the same thing as a real gun (pull the trigger, an object comes out and hits a target). They can/should make very soft "bullets" (something similar to a paintball) and have them escape the gun at a lower, non-lethal speed. How does that sound? Why not truly make it a "sport", such in the way that darts is a skill sport? Whats with the target having a human shape anyway? Why not a Circle shape? The fact that somebody can put their gun back into their pocket after a couple hours at the range, and go out into public with this killing tool is the fucked up part about it.
It's men trying to feel secure about their manliness, so they need to project themselves to others in this manner by driving big trucks and carrying guns around... when deep down they're just infantile bitches. It's a facade. I can see right through these people (lots of them where I live). You are not a fucking cowboy, this is not 3:10 to Yuma, you are not some hero hotshot who is going to save the day and be on the local news when you shoot the boogie man. You live in modern day, start acting like a modern person.
- WTF are you on about you dumb fuckamazing

- are you a woman?airscape
- a woman? no, i'm the guy that doesn't need to tote around a gun. however, you want one...iCanHasQBN
