It's also not about "Is it fair to put her away for such or such time?"
That was never part of the debate.
I'm not even sure we should sent people like her to prison.
The main question was: Is what she did wrong or not.

    • Oh no. That is very clearly part of the debate. This woman is facing serious time.boobs
    • Then we should start debating the whole American penal system. And yes, that IS besides the point.Sep

There are many, many things in society which can have a "seriously negative impact on your sexuality, your view on women and relationships in general".

I mean, that's so vague, it could include PG-13 movies, Katy Perry, reading The Superficial, or talking to a Priest. If everything that changed a teenager's views on sexuality and relationships could result in a prison sentence, no one on Earth would have enough money to build the prisons.

If a penis can become erect and shoot semen out, then the body is ready to have sex. Its absolutely non comparible to unsolicited underage sex with a female which is of course a completely different matter altogether. A teenage boy with a raging boner is ready to have sex and if that lucky little cunt gets to have sex with a milf, and gets a xbox at the same time, then all power to him.

    • You're basically saying that a person who gets aroused while being raped is "asking for it". Idiotic.juhls
    • What if a female student IS aroused? and they use protection? Peer opinion aside, it's the same thing.juhls
    • It's about power, not the act of sex. Again, doesn't matter what the underage person thinks b/c they are being used.juhls
    • i thought the underage boys consented....set
    • rape is obviously a completely different subjectset
    • What if a girl consents and uses protection? The older person, whether male or female, is taking advantage ofjuhls
    • the underage person. In the law, it is considered rape if you're underage. If an older man does this to a younger womanjuhls
    • woman, he is likely to be convicted and sent to prison. The same thing should happen to a woman.juhls
    • meh whatever *goes back to lifeset

@Sep thank you for taking the time to put things in a right light here and trying to put some wisdom in some adolescent brains, respect!

"Girls and women, rightly or wrongly, face stigmas because of sexual activity. Men don't."

"The idea that she has harmed these boys is silly. They'll be the envy of everyone at their school, and more popular than they were before."

In these two quotes you are making a broad generalization and assumption. That is, that the boy doesn't, and won't ever, feel like they had been taken advantage of. i'll grant you, most teenagers would jump at the chance to have sex. And, in the moment, they may have even been complicit in the act, physically enjoying it.

The problem is boys that age are not emotionally mature enough to decide whether or not it is the right time to have sex. This woman has capitalized on that lack of discretion, using the implicit authority in her age and the bribes, to convince them that it was. Eventually that power dynamic will come back to haunt them and, like someone else said, they may very will seek to right that deficiency of power by taking power over another, younger person.

Moreover, these quotes are ignorant of the fact that if, in the days and weeks following the act, these boys do feel taken advantage of, they will likely not feel that they can say so.

Think of the peer reaction to a 13 yr old saying "i didn't like that i had sex and got money and presents. This merit of popularity that you see as a blessing on these kids is actually a muzzle, discouraging them from paying attention to how they actually feel about the event, rather than how everyone around them THINKS they should feel. And suppression of these feeling can lead to mental and emotional damage.

    • There's a big difference between saying it shouldn't be a crime, and saying I "endorse" it. But you're blind to subtleties.boobs

For any age -- there is a difference between forced and deliberate sex.
If one of the parties is underage obviously doesn't automatically make it a rape or abuse, what is the discussion about?

Reminds me of a news story. In Utah a 13 year old boy and a 12 year old girl had sex. Since both are underage the court concluded that they raped each other -- both were sentenced to have their names in a pedophile database

Maybe in America one can allow oneself this kind of "iron logic", but if any of you in the fever of the pedophile hunt follow the same reasoning -- you are clinical idiots

    Banned and ignored
