Are there any tangible advantage too LED monitors for designers? Do any of you use LED for design?
I have to get 2 new monitors for work and I'm not sure if the cost/benefit ratio is worth it to go LED.

LED, no backlighting/light leaking issues. More energy efficient.

Love LED. They're super bright and clear. They do reflect but just don't sit right in front of a light source (obviously).
I use two 24" LED Apple Cinema displays here. Looking to get rid of them actually and just get the new 27" ACD if you wanna buy them (Dual monitors don't work correctly with a Wacom) They use a Matrox DualHead2Go adapter to connect them both which costs $250.
I'd sell each ACD for $100 less than the lowest refurb price you can find. I bought them this past December brand spanking new off of Apple for $900 each. Have the original boxes, paper work, etc. too.
Lemme know. I'd only be looking to sell both of them at this price though.

@fyouchar1: My set up is a MBP and a Windows desktop. Can I use an ACD on a Windows machine or do they use a proprietary connector. Can you post a link to what you have?

This question makes no sense.
Both types are LCD's. The LEDs are for backlight vs. a CFL tube.
LEDs are less power hungry for laptops, but are also more succeptible to heat so they may fail faster than CFL depending on enclosure. Both can leak light as they both use a prism to spread light across the surface of the LCDmonitor.R/G/B LED matices should allow for better colour temp adjustment due to individual control of component colours. High-end NEC monitors (on probably others) use this tech. I believe most consumer models use white LEDs which drift in colour temp over their life.
In general LED is a marketing buzzword when it comes to monitors.
Much more important is panel type, with the ACD monitors using high-quality IPS panels. THAT is why they look great.
