The problem in the UK (although I'm pretty sure it's not just a British problem) is that anything of any importance or grandeur is always produced through 'design by committee'. Layers and layers of marketing twats telling you what people like and any true vision drowns in the depths of a thousand brainstorming meetings.
The 2012 Olympics will be one big camel.
- the committee is clear ...
wish a big camel toe!!!

looks dated

reminds of something an architect in the 60's would have designed for the 2012 olympics

maybe they need a new decision maker

'looks dated', that render IS dated

Go here for the latest renderings of the aquatics centre: http://mm.gettyimages.com/mm/act…
The mundane architecture is ok, at least it's functional and not hugely expensive. I think the site works as a whole, with greenery, parks and canals bringing the site together, rather than relying on 'iconic' buildings as such.
But oh shit, what's this?

Oh and btw, the olympics are held across the whole of the UK, http://www.london2012.com/map.ph…. So what you're asking is, 'is this the best the UK can do?'
