i love the FOV my 20mm f1.7 gives me which is 40mm full frame equivalent.
i wouldn't want it any more zoomed in.Good luck, new lenses are always fun :D

I have the 35mm 1.8, and like it a lot. I also have an old 50mm 1.4 lens - but it's not autofocus.

I´ve used the 35mm f/2.0 lens for a long time now, and been very happy with it. With a crop sensor the 50 is a bit in between a normal and short tele, so the 35 hits a sweet spot. Haven´t tried the new one, but can easily recommend the f/2.0.
- I use the 35mmf2 on my D300, great little lens, nice focal length.technikiller

I'd rather have a 50mm 1.4 on a D80 than the 35mm 1.8. This is just personal preference. The 35 get's good reviews:
http://www.photozone.de/nikon--n…- ah 1.8's more than enough for me to be honest. Anything more and it's just overdoneProjectile

for what it's worth, i have this lens (in canon mount):
sigma 20mm f1.8
http://www.sigmaphoto.com/shop/2…it's quite lovely. bit pricey though.

Funny question. I have the 50mm and have also lately wanted something wider. There's a 24mm they make that's pretty expensive.

have never used it, but it looks good to me.

I've gone and bloody lost my 50mm prime lens.. but it was doing my head in, it really is too zoomed in.
Apparently this came out last year, not too much more expensive but 35mm sound a lot better.
Nikon AF-S DX 35mm f1.8G
http://www.dpreview.com/lensrevi…anyone know anything about this bad boy? I'm sporting a Nikon D80, but this is "primarily targeted as an inexpensive, large aperture option for users of the entry-level (D40 / D40X /D60) series of DSLRs."
