i don't think it's a hipster trap. it fits more to swiss-cream-cheese design. it's clean and lean. :-P

A co-worker has a 27" imac. Flash will not open. The program not the plug-in. So if you use Flash, do some research first.
- that could not, in any way, be an iMac specific issue...at allmonospaced
- sounds like a big fucking user ERROR.akrok

I've got 5 years in on my current iMac. It's a G5, which means that updating the software, etc., is becoming out of the question. A lot of the stuff I want only works on the Intel machines.
If I got the same life out of the next one--plus the improved screen and processor speeds--I'd be happy. Especially considering how much I use the thing--which averages something like 8-12 hours per day.

Do the refurb ones smell, and have greasy smears on them, or are they utterly totally sterile and pure, like the new ones?

Refurbs are nice, I've got 2 now. They are brand new, just come in a plain box. They have the new smell.

Refurbs are either older models or they're factory-rebuilt from ground up. They always get new serial numbers. I am not sure if iMacs have laser-engraved serial numbers on them, but those items that do (MacBooks, iPods, etc) _must_ get new casings with their new numbers.
One thing's for sure: refurbs are thoroughly tested.
One thing with refurb iMacs is you get small wireless keyboard, no choice of large wired one with the num-pad.

I agree on refurbs. I'm typing on a 27" refurb. I got it because I know it'll work. The issue that it had to be returned has been fixed. They have the same warranty, and mine costed $250 less. Good deal around.

just bought one off of b&h photo no shipping or tax (shipped to connecticut). I don't do much heavy lifting but pumped on this fucking thing as I am typing on my 5 year old 17" intel core 2 duo right now.
