Chivas:
Here is a little secret, you know the designers on the room next to your office? You know when they all go to lunch and don't invite you?
They are probably talking about you, and how you always want them to do everything orange or making them to increase the size of the logo.:)

Well, I guess I'm not a designer in the strictest sense, but I do know quite a bit about design and marketing principles.
The fact that I majored in marketing and my current position is Junior VP of Marketing doesn't really change that, does it?
I still design, but instead of doing the actual design work I come up with the overall ideas/schemes and the designers on my team execute them.
- this makes perfect sense if we follow the stereotype.
Does any of your designers wear suits as well?Miguex - LOL.********
- haha, I still design...except that I don't. Cmon, you don't design, anymore than the CEO of Disney draws Mickey Mouse.ukit
- Well, no most of them don't. Usually they wear more casual: shirts/slacks, or even t-shirts********
- But I simply enjoy wearing a suit everyday. It's just my preference.********
- are you in SD chivas?Miguex
- Yea ayou too?********
- yes, but I don't even own a suit haha, But I'm also not a successful designer.Miguex
- this makes perfect sense if we follow the stereotype.

- I posted a nice shirt, both brockman and Glaser are probably in their 50s thoughMiguex
- brockmann died fifteen years agoukit
- so maybe you are rightukit
- 15, 20 years or 5 minutes ago.. doesn't change their eraMiguex
- But I bet they would dress similarly today...if anything people in the 50s and 60s were more formalukit
- exactly my point.
you had to be 18 to wear long pants back then hahaMiguex

What's with the hatred for professional dress though? A suit does not make the man. Designers and people in marketing can look really good if they just put more effort into it. A suit doesn't have to be boring.
Also, I don't enjoy looking sloppy when I have to visit the finance department and see everyone, even analysts, looking as sharp as tacks. I'm talking about suits with ties, cufflinks, and pocket squares.
- not a hatred, but in my experience designers never wear ties. 99% of the time its tshirts, jeans, sneakers.********
- Well I like to break out of the status quo********
- But you're not a designer;)ukit
- Manager of designers then
;-)******** - not hatred, and we are all just stereotyping! but you seem to be in a higher position than designer, so this makes senseMiguex
- This photo, minus the tie, I would probably wear on a meeting with my best client.Miguex
- i wear a tie 4 out of 5 work days.
it's not that bad, although i would prefer to have a choice in the matter.lvl_13 - interesting, I mean is just a stereotype really, maybe things are changing, which is possibleMiguex
- i agree with chivas on the don't enjoy looking sloppy thing . . .jmilligan
- - surprise meetings with the execs catch me off guard on the day I'm in a polo and jeansjmilligan
- the idea that "not wearing a tie" means "sloppy" is a thing of the past. Specially when it comes to creative people.Miguex
- not a hatred, but in my experience designers never wear ties. 99% of the time its tshirts, jeans, sneakers.

Hey, it's fine for you, I just don't envision most designers dressing that way...
By definition, business people spend their time in meetings, making sales and presentations, therefore a professional appearance is important. Designers spend time...designing so comfort is more important. Also they don't want to look like another suit, as that would shatter the image of the quirky artist type;)
- True but like I said, suits don't have to be boring. They can look somewhat quirky and be comfortable if they're tailored well.********
- tailored well********
- True, however the first pic you posted would be impractical for designingukit
- not as comfy as sweats, a tanktop and a cumrag tho.********
- Yeah those are definitely more comfortable********
- Wait what is a cumrag?..... the fuck********
