seriously Bort, if it wasn't going to be Schleck causing an upset, all I wanted to happen was for Contador to beat him hands down in the time trial just so there would be no question about who was the best man this year.
He's won, but I say it leaves a bad taste in the mouth.
Anyway, big day for the sprinters, can't wait to see Cav go without Renshaw again.

So Contador wins the tour by roughly the same amount of time he stole from Schleck on the mountain stage when Schleck threw his chain.
The head to head race up the tourmalet was epic and one of the best pieces of cycling I've seen - the glare from Schleck to Contador when Contador couldn't shake him was amazing. The were both incredible.
BUT this is a hollow win overall because of his actions. I hope Schleck improves further next season and takes the jersey.

Yeah Cav is ridiculously fast. Too bad he can be such an arrogant asshat. His response to causing the crash in the Tour de Suisse was classless.
- 9 out of 10 sprinters are arrogant dickheads. It's just the necessary supreme confidence in their ability.Wolfboy

Cavendish is amazing.
He's been ill, injured and off form and can still destroy a field in the tour without a decent lead out. I hope all those in the media who say he is all lead out watched him out there without Renshaw toay.

I dont know him well enough (actually, not at all.. LOL) to know what he's like.
All i know is that he's an awesome rider, an absolute machine.. he can TT and he's an awesome climber.

Do you like Contador? He doesn't seem to have any personality. I'm indifferent to him. It might be a language barrier. To me, he's just a robot with a very fast motor, racking up TDF titles. I guess I like it when he does the pew pew thing.
- Please. He´s a rider, not a entertainer... You don´t need to undertand his language to recognize he´s a WAY good cyclist.OBBTKN
- ... a WAY good cyclist. The best in this time peloton. Period.OBBTKN
- um, i'm not arguing his talent. of course he's obviously the best right now. i'm saying it's not easy to be a fan of him.iCanHasQBN
- I agree. Amazing talent, but sometimes seems to lack the panache of other Tour greats. The "finger bang" kills me - reminds me of Shooter McGavin from Happy Gilmore.

They're still equally juiced .... its just a different type of juice ... namely blood..
GO CONTY!! MAKE IT 3!!!
- iCanHasQBN0
Sure, they were juiced, but they were equally juiced.
- bort0
Things were more interesting in the early 00's because 90% of the peloton was totally juiced. We don't see epic attacks like that much anymore because things are cleaner. The super human attacks are increasingly rare.

^^ bort
Garmin is stoked on Ryder's performance, but they wont make him #1 since he is canadian. The welcome home party for him will be epic!

Great stage today. AC & Shleck were pretty even throughout the entire Tour. But I have to say that this was a pretty boring Tour compared to the early-mid 00's. Just really uneventful, and lots of GC contenders being disadvantaged because of crashes & mechanicals. The strongest guy won though. Just wish it could've been more of a dramatic battle. No chance Andy's winning the Jersey back now... unless SaxoBank launches a breakaway tomorrow and Team TT's for the last 50km with Fabian at the front... ha ha hum.

I have to revise my prediciton after stage 17:
1) AC
2) Schleck
3) MenchovGreat stage today. GO RYDER! Garmin better dump Vande Velde and go with Ryder next year for GC. He's earned their support.
- whats the point of predictions if you change them..iCanHasQBN
- I CAN DO WHAT I WANT, OKAY!?!bort
- No wait. You're right.bort

Final showdown > Schleck Vs Contador

bort, the difference between what happened on the cobbles of Stage 3 and the slopes of Port de Bales on Stage 15 is that Andy was in yellow. Historically speaking - at least to some degree - you don't attack the yellow jersey if the rider has suffered a crash or has had a mechanical. That being said, I'm hesitant to be too critical of Alberto "Shooter McGavin" Contador because he did have 2 other riders (Menchov & Sanchez) who were close in the GC.
What I think it shows is that while Contador is hands down the most gifted rider in the peloton, he has yet to achieve the "patron" status.

he wasnt being honest..

I think Andy will attack at the Tourmalet tomorrow. But AC will stick to his wheel, and if he feels good will counter-attack and gain more time. Would love to see Andy win, but AC is too good, especially in the TT. Have you ever seen such a talented natural climber TT so well??

3-4 minutes? Not gonna happen. Contador would have to crash or blow up in such spectacular fashion nothing would be left.
This whole "unsportsmanlike" thing is a really messy argument. Andy exploited Contador on the cobbled stage when he was held up behind a crash. What did Saxo do? Put Spartacus on the front and drill it. That was sheer "bad luck", as everyone seems to be arguing in the dropped chain incident. What's the difference?
I agree AC shouldn't have attacked when Schleck dropped his chain, but he can't be expected to soft pedal when Menchov and Sanchez are ready to pounce.
