1, redraw the second "A"

I like #2, but use a different cleaner font for "construction" and center it underneath.
#1 looks like something for Animal Planet or some kind of Safari adventure. While the blockyness of #2's letters say structure/strength/construction. I would make the eyes just a tad bit bigger though.

- the problem with centering it is it disrupts the animal shapeyeeblazer
- it doesnt need to be that close to the eyes. doing it in all-caps will help with this. also kern it out.iCanHasQBN

I'd go for a rough/sans-serif pairing like in the first example, but drop the hint of an actual animal in there.
ah, typist has already said it - make the second A slightly different to the first.

#2 is your best bet so far....I would go in this direction...Play with some different fonts.

#2.
#3 is nice, but it's not for a construction firm.

Seriously, #2 is fantastic. Smart, strong, clever.

use some sharp teeth or something to make it mean. I think for a construction company, especially one owned by a dude, the name is more ANIMAL than Animal, you know. I like 2, but it looks like a cute deer which doesnt vibe with the strong type.
- unless they do more intricate work like faux victorian or edwardian style – which seems unlikely.Amicus

needs more extremeness i think

id start over. Pick typefaces that are a bit more timeless and build conceptually and visually from there. Your font choices arent classic enough and read as unsure. Remove all the boxes and such and keep it to simple letters and a subtle nod to the animal visual concept. Less will be more.

what about a rhino? they imply strength and stability.

Number 2 has potential.
Maybe center Construction under Animal and play out the 'animal' some more with the word construction too. Maybe the "U" in construction is like the jaw of the animal or teeth or something else. Also, those "ears" that appear in the M can be ears to more than just a deer. When I think "animal" I don't think of a gay ass deer. I think bear, lion, dog with rabies. Some crazzee ass animal. Men do construction, make it a manly animal! I also definitely prefer the more playful logo over something more minimal and clean here. It's "Animal Construction yo!"
I also like the idea of a tail, maybe factor that in somehow (maybe off of the L in Animal).

None of these really hit home for me.
Number one is probably the best of them all. I think the general public will understand and recognize its composition over the rest.
The rest are really struggling typographically speaking.
- with that said, two isn't bad, but I'd try to work construction in in a much simpler waytymeframe
