I've recently graduated and am working from home at the moment. Its a great chance to experiment and finish up losse ends, but I'm finding it increasingly difficult to focus on getting stuff done though.
So I were wondering if any of you have any advice for keeping active when working at home (or in general).
don't stay home all the time,
at least try to go out for an hour or two everyday, go ride a bike, run, do some exercise,
staying home all the time will slowly drive you to the hedge.
stay away from this place when on deadline.
^ that can be a poisoned challace :/
I have been doing it for 6 years and have completely lost my marbles.
I doubt any Uruguayan had taken those test seriously... they filled the form without even reading them to make an easy quid...!
results from my experience:
4 cups of coffe a day:
grastro-somehting fuck up - end up in hospital, almost surgery.
1 liter of mate a day
nothing so far...
if I die of cancer I will let you guys know!
I make lists of the stuff I have to do that day, then create a separate list for the stuff I have to do around the house but only start on them tasks after 6pm as if I would be coming home from work anyway, obviously though you will have to make some personal calls during the day to sort stuff out. works for me, and when you get the chance, take breaks outside in your garden etc. and if your really lucky find a hot neighbour who lives three doors down who also freelances from home :)
i agree with mirrorball. lists are a great way to stay focused.
are we allowed to say Action Method on here?
take a walk or bike ride every morning at the same time...
every 30 minutes or so, look out the window so your eyes don't get all computered-out
do NOT listen to talk radio
do NOT have a hundred browser windows open reading random shit
I use a timer.... say 20 minutes to do x, then I can do y.. strangely I get alot done in short bursts without random inturruptions of people that happen in an office
what ever is distracting you make it harder to reach, TV unplug it , web surfing, unplug modem , bunker down , also helps to tell people what you are working on or just tell people you plan on having X project done by X date. Set a goal to drive you , people will slowly take interest and ask you about how your projects are going
Leave QBN. Close all web windows unless you're actually intentionally looking for things online. Stay off of Facebook, Twitter, etc. Don't set your email reminder to ding every time to get a new message.
I'm working on taking all the above advice... starting... now.
