ANDROID: run apps through the browser with flash. Fuck the app store bullshit. You're only making Jobs richer.

i bought the curve about three years ago, used it for about a year, then bought a 1st gen iphone on ebay, unlocked it, and using the same sim card went back and forth between the two for a couple months. maybe something you could try with a couple older models?
i found myself using the iphone more because of two features: a real browser, and a much easier to use version of google maps. the rest is just fluff.

Yeh, I'd get one of those Android phones if I were to get a new phone again. I currently have the iPhone 3GS. It's nice and all but I kind of dislike how it all HAS to be tied into iTunes, you're stuck with AT&T, and the fact that it doesn't have Flash.
I use the browser a lot and hate seeing the missing plug-in link ALL of the time, especially with pron and ads that I'd actually like to see. I wish it would at least give me the option. People always say 'what sites do you go to that has Flash that you absolutely need'? Well, I don't write them down when I get to them but I've come across many of them where I wish Flash had been installed. I wish the iPhone had at least given me this option but it doesn't. Those Android phones supposedly do.
All of the apps I've ever downloaded were never really 'that' useful in real world situations either, so the app store was just never 'that' appealing to me. Just give me a few good apps, like weather, dictionary, calculator, and a web browser that works great and I'd be happy.
That's just my 2 cents though.

If impressing others at a meeting is what you're after, don't use any phone, it'd really piss me off.

I'm not sure why people dislike screen keyboards on a phone. I have large hands and do fine with the iPhone. Aside from that, I can't imagine a single aspect of an iPhone that isn't superior.

And as far as our "professional environment", you'll see infinitely more iPhones amongst creatives than Blackberrys, which are popular with attorneys, investment brokers, etc.

The easy answer is: Do you use the iPhone web browser at all? If yes then get another iPhone because the Blackberry web browsing doesn't even come close.

sorry cybrain I just prefer a physical keyboard - each to their own and all that.
creatives will jump on the next fad/fashion accessory....

yeah, as they say above. the blackberry thing is completely about workplaces buying them for their employees, (and then of course making them be available 24/7). Given the choice, I doubt many people would pick a Blackberry over an iphone or HTC desire or other touchscreen....

Most people had a choice at my office, and after trying iPhones switched to Blackberrys.
I personally stayed with my iPhone. But I think there is something about the keyboard and the Blackberry being more of a 'work' phone.
I think it almost looks more professional as well.
Maybe it's just my impression though.- It's because Blackberry has been around forever. It was/is the archetypical "work" smart device.dMullins

Who gives a fuck what kind of phone someone else has? Get what YOU like. Have you considered actually demoing the phone before buying it, lol?
- I was asking for the opinion of people that had it for a long time smartass. Of course I had a play with it.clearThoughts
- So in other words, you buy products based on other peoples' experiences. How metaphysical of you...dMullins
