Alright, so your portfolio is basically a couple maps. I think you need to reevaluate what it takes to break in to even entry level in this industry. Not saying throw in the towel, just get some real expectations and spend some time really developing a portfolio.
- Also spend some time studying both typography and grid layouts.

So, what company was this for anyway?

Are you a designer, a cartographer, an illustrator, a photographer, a web developer, or what? Pick one (or two).
And "there was no time" isn't an excuse for shit work.

Their work is cheesey and gaudy, but you couldn't cut it trying to make signs. Cheesey/gaudy is an art when it comes to signs like that.
- RoosterCup0
In other words, you don't have the experience nor the talent for that sort of work. We might look down on work like that, but it definitely requires talent to pump out stuff like that.
- Most people assume any design job is aimed to please other designers. As you point out, this is not the case here.orrinward

I thought, for the most part, people here gave honest and helpful advice and didn't let the thread degrade too bad.
The guy wanted some honest advice, and now he has some info to work with, some advice on strengths and weaknesses and a reality check on the industry.
What good is it if we all candy coat it. Like I said previously, if you are meant to be in this industry, use criticism to make yourself stronger and motivation to prove those wrong. If you take it all too much to heart, get out now while you still have your soul. Its a difficult field.
- I also commend pockets for willing to take some crits/input without turning into a name calling child. Well done!ETM
- << the truthbigtrickagain
- dont think he as asking for advice, it was more him whiningbrother
- Whining... then he asked for honest opinions of his work (page 2 I think).ETM
- he didnt want opinion, he just wanted to confirm that he is right. he thinks he is goodbrother

Ignore 'brother'. He's one of the no-post trolls that like to pick fights and derail thread. As usual, has no link to any work. Ignore the bait.
- ITs ok, your work not much better.brother
- Cheers!!ETM
- have you considered that it's sometimes the people who DON'T link their work who actually have the best work?iCanHasQBN
- Nope.ETM
- At least you didnt rip a poorly design stuff. I hope.brother
- i'd rather protect my business and professional integrity, than get it mixed it up with QBN crap.iCanHasQBN
- That's the problem. If people had to account for themselves more, this would be a better forum.ETM
- Not saying that's anything directed at yourself. But a fair statement in general, I think.ETM
- i agree w/ that.iCanHasQBN
