Response to Apple

"As you are listed as the registrant for this website, EA demands that you immediately and permanently disable access to the aforementioned bittorrent seeds for The Sims 2 and any in the future."
"You're free to demand anything you want. So are we. We demand that you cease and desist sending letters like this."

I love torrent websites, they bring us content that we all want to watch when we want to watch it. Want SEO4 of Mad Men, sick of the BBC being a year out of date with most good american series, that if we get them at all, fuck it, I will see what's online.
- We're always a year or two behind on our UK shows over here. Tit for tat.ETM

Like others have said, take one down 30 more will pop up and 1 will become the "best" a few years later that gets taken down, rinse and repeat.

And thats why the big companies hate torrent sites, they want to control how you watch the stuff. They don't want you to see a movie before its official release on DVD, or watching Mad Men with no commercials. They want you to use their crappy music store like Rhapsody or some other stupid thing.
Of course if everything is consumed for free there would be no more big budget movies/ music, so there needs to be a balance. I just find it incredibly hypocritical how they keep hiding behind this "protect the artist" BS. Remember at the height of the recording industry they would charge almost $18-20 for a single CD? lol And the prices kept inching upward and upward.
I think the answer is to offer people more stuff for cheap. Rethink the marketing approach rather than trying to play whack a mole with these sites.

And that is the trouble, The TV media companies are stuck with an out of date business model, The tech is there to be used and make money from, but the TV companies what full control, and in return are shooting themselves in the foot. Move on all ready. Torrent technology could easily make money fore these companies but they don't want to play ball.
- totally agreed on the out of date business model. It seems a lot of pirating comes from convenience.Tofublock

Isohunt.com fuck pirate bay.

The only torrent search you'll need: www.torrentz.com
It indexes all the other trackers in its results (incl. tpb) and lets users mark a valid torrent with a green, friendly check.

Not really sure this is the right thread, but it might be relevant to those of you following. Aaaanyway.
Had to giggle and rub my hands together keenly after reading this article - http://www.theregister.co.uk/201…
tl;dr - Pirate Lawyer targetted by 4Chan antics makes mistake of brushing off their attack as "typical rubbish from pirates".
Who in their right mind shoots across the bows of Anonymous?
Some good may come of this.

The final verdict: a few months jail time and several million in fines. The site, meanwhile, rolls on.

From the comments:
"There’s always hypocrites who will push and try to milk you for money...
There is a reason why there is a thing called “piracy”, maybe these “fat cats” should take a hard look at themselves and see what is wrong with today’s media.
And SONY, they made copying copyrighted material open for me when I first got my SONY VCR. So thank you so much SONY for showing us the way to piracy!"
