Got a chance to get a new fully spec'd Aeron delivered for 1/3rd off (cancelled order). Only caveat is its a size C and I'm a B according to their chart. Worth it or not?

no, unless you plan to grow by a third!

Nice chair but over priced for what they are, I would get a recondition Aeron and save the money, you can pick them up for £300 in most sizes with 3 year warranty.

I got a size C one off ebay, it's a great chair, wouldn't say they're overpriced as every other chair I'd used was killing me. Check it's got the right wheels for whatever floor you've got. Bought it off a skinny little guy and he said he'd sent a size B back to America as it was too small for him.

I've sat on Aeron chairs in my current job for 3 years, my last job had crappy office chairs, now I couldn't use anything else.
I had 2 back ops a couple of years ago and the aeron gives me no trouble, it fits perfectly and feels like you're floating mid air, you don't get too warm etcget one!

I've had both chairs - Aeron & Mirra -
Get the 'Mirra' : Becuase it is newer, it has a better and more efficient design that uses cheaper materials and in turn is half the price.
But both 'are worth it'...

I'm sitting in an aeron now. the lumbar support is awesome and the mesh keeps the seat from getting hot/sweaty. There are different versions of the aeron based on price, so it depends on which you get. One has none of the adjustments (other than seat height) and one has all the tricks, arm height, arm swivel, seat tilt, etc.

if you are paying = mirra
if they are paying = aeron

aeron saved my back, will never sit in anything else

i have sat on aeron chairs for more than 3 years..they switched our chairs recently. there is a huge difference, i wonder if my pinched nerve is due to the new chair

I actually prefer a good Haworth:

Scott Hansen @ iso50 has a great review of the Embody chair if you're interested:

There's a hilarious comment in there as well about the Aeron chair being especially designed to not absorb farts.
http://blog.iso50.com/2010/01/25…LeRoy Watkins said:
"Be honest Scotty – how badly does the seat cushion smell like farts after 4 months? I’ve found that the true measure of a quality chair is in how well it dissipates fart odor out and away from the cushion. It’s that reason alone that the Aeron chair will always be the best chair ever invented, because it doesn’t have a cushion. Herman Miller knew what they were up to when they developed the Aeron. In fact, I’ve read that designer Bill Stumpf decided on the Aeron’s non-cushion approach to tackle this very problem. I’m really into product design, and I’ve read about an interview in a German publication where Stumpf was quoted as saying “the gas [farts] has to go somewhere if their chair is to remain enjoyable for the user. We just removed the cushion, problem solved.”It’s been rumored that Herman Miller explored using some type of replaceable carbon filter in the cushion of the Embody and other chairs, but the approach was scrapped after their marketing department didn’t feel they could appropriately and tastefully promote that feature. They’re crazy as far as I’m concerned; it was a forward thinking idea that would have solved a big problem.
We met in Seattle once, love reading the blog and checking out the music. Keep it up."

Ogilvy Chicago (and Push Orlando before that) stocks the entire office with Aeron chairs... Professionally, its basically all I've ever known (except a brief stint with SamataMason - good god those were awful OfficeDepot chairs)
Aeron has made me a believer - although the chair I use at home was my grandfathers. It has no "brand name" but it is a swivel chair that rocks back and forth (not unlike an aeron) - the chair body is wood, the base/rotator/legs/wheels are cast-iron and the embelishments are leather... I believe it was the standard seat disney bought for their animators back in the 40's (as he was an animator for disney back in their golden age)
I'll have that chair until the day I die - most comfortable chair, over long periods, I've ever sat in.
- ill take photos and post them here later - perhaps someone could tell me what it is?identity

I have the aeron, totally worth it to me. This is my 2nd one. I bought the first one used which lasted a long time but then I got a brand spanking new one (the executive version, leather and chrome...and spinners). Looks niice in the office. I can sit it in all day and night as well. Embody would be nice too but I think they're even more expensive.

i am in the minority as not liking the aerons. i like the mirra much better. however, my favorite, and the one i spent my own money on, is the freedom chair from humanscale. they have a lifetime warranty and great customer service—they replaced my chair because of a broken lever.
also, from the same designer of the freedom is the new diffrient chair. i've never sat in one but i'm sure it's comfy (if it is ever released that is.)
http://ep.yimg.com/ca/I/thehuman…i'm also curious about the embody and the new setu chairs from hm.

Your office chair is killing you...

but seriously, if I continue working at home, I may consider a treadmill desk... homemade of course.. my back is dying from all this sitting..

i prefer the eames management chair to the aeron, but either way the C may be a poor fit for you

Totally agree with ^^^ - I've got a black leather management chair in my office and it's much more comfortable to me, compared to the Aerons I sat on for years at various design shops. YMMV.
- leather on a chair here in southern cali is pretty much suicide thoughMiguex
