They whine and whine and yet they still haven't actually made anything ready for prime time. Why does anyone give them sympathy at all.
- < because Apple are behaving like tyrants. The underdog will always seem more appealing.lukus_W
- Underdog? The company that virtually has a monopoly and has been screwing us with CS prices?raf
- how are apple acting like tyrants toward a product that doesn't even properly exist?ephix
- They are keeping me from even considering an iPad, so bad biz on Apple's front (unless this changes, no point in having a device that can't view the web)formed

it's really bad, no wonder they have been delaying this "promising" Flash Player for mobile devices for the past 2 years
- ernexbcn0
there's another video floating around showing a prototype tablet running the same thing and crashing on a Youtube video

Old Flash has worked on Android since it came out. Stupidly though AS3 and any Flash Player 10 things still don't seem to work on my Hero.

The beta version is currently available for testing on Android.
If a beta version of an application crashes - how's that news? Sounds to me like the guy who gave the presentation was unlucky and under prepared.

so if Flash is soon to be dead...
... should I just move on to developing mobile apps... or get back to basics with the web and move on w/the 'standards only' approach?
- I'd say it's less about the standards than it is a return to Wild West HTML4 days.detritus
- and Flash isn't dead. You might just need to rein in your comprehensively Flash outlook :)detritus
- I hope 'mobile apps' are a temporary dead end. Smarter mobile = full HTML / web rendering, whatever that may bedetritus
- be.detritus
- I was thinking given the popularity of the iPod alone... creating mobile apps isn't such a bad idea...PonyBoy
- ... now add in the iPad and iPhone... ...perhaps it's a safe place to be for a bit?PonyBoy
- That's what I'm doing, Kev. My first iPhone app is almost done.skelly_b

Although the Eco Zoo has been demoed in Android here
I think it was overly ambitious to try to demo a full 3D site straight up. It's a shame because this will just fuel the debate that Adobe have been lazy. I feel sorry for the guy but I'm surprised he didn't make more of an effort to recover the demo and show something less intensive.

Adobe really need to get their shit together, and that's coming from a Flash developer
- So, does this mean that Apple isn't so bad, or does it not make a difference?monospaced
- Adobe are lazy and it's catching up with them, Apple are innovative but pricksAncillary

Steve Jobs whole argument was going to live or die by the fact that Flash wasn't good for mobile devices and, as the first poster here said, that appears to be true.
Adobe apparently fucked up. They bought the company that made the leading multimedia web app in the world and forgot that the computer world ain't gonna wait for them.
But, as others have said, what's going to take its place? That is what I wonder. Everyone cannot be a developer....I'm sure not.

If you read that first story, it says eco zoo crashed in a beta version. Ecozoo is intense Papervision, probably the ultimate test. And it doesn't explain why hulu.com didn't work. I wouldn't have picked that as an example since it's just video. I really don't think we've learned much about how Flash on Android will work in a final version of the plugin ifrom these two examples.

It's great when new technology makes life more convenient with app phones and tablets, but very frustrating that we have to dumb content down by a decade to make it work.
I'm still convinced Flash can run on today's best phones. And the iPad has NO excuse. My Power Computing Mac clone from 1995 ran Flash more than 10 years ago.
