I'm doing a quick & cheap job for a friend's sister, putting together a CV for her degree show to be precise.
She's exhibiting suits of armor she's designed & made. This goes hand in hand with her general love of all things fantastical, and she listens to a lot of metal.
So I'm after a serif, gothic in feel without being quite as ornate as a blackletter, kind of half way between a black letter and a more bog standard serif.

Exactly the sort of thing I was looking for, which probably means my description was absolute cock, but never mind!

I don't know if it necessarily has to be something gothic. You could find something else that has a bit of spikiness to it but isn't tied too closely to a single historical period, since the use of armor in warfare spans many centuries and cultures. Something w/ unbracketed serifs would work.
Mercury
Farnham
GlosaPair with a sharp geometric sans like Verlag or Futura for the spikiness win.
