Stop the sneak attack on GMO labeling!
If the U.S. government has its way, the powerful intergovernmental group Codex may soon make it impossible to label food "GMO-free" for any country in the world. On May 3rd, 2010 Obama officials from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) will travel to a special meeting to propose that Codex reject common sense labeling laws regarding GMO food products. Stand up for your right to know what's in your food and stop this sneak attack on GMO labeling, please sign below:

I just grabbed a fresh organic tomato straight from the garden. It's possibly the best one I've ever eaten. Monsanto couldn't create this with $100 billion worth of GMO research. Nature you rock my world. :D

I think the reality is more nuanced than either side is making it out to be...on one hand what doesnotexist says is true. On the other hand Monsanto does try to use GMO to dominate the market and force people into a scheme where they can only buy crops that are patented by them. Typical example of "American free market capitalism"

There is an interesting, precarious push and pull going on in the world today (which, ironically, gives me hope in mankind). We have Monsanto on one hand doing a good job of taking over the world, mostly to promote their products and create a world wide monopoly on food production, then on the other hand we have companies deciding to ban GMO's, anti-biotic use, etc. Both are monetarily driven and both are powerful.
I fear that this TPP will continue Monsanto's assault on the world, but who knows, information is powerful.
I've learned a lot and been pleasantly surprised to see corporation's step up (obviously mostly marketing pr, but the end result is the same - banning GMO's).
I pray we can stop this before one company control's the world's food supply. Sadly, I think it'll be generations before we can prove what the side effects are (just too much money, there will always be some scientist "proving" anything to be "safe").

This is a lot like the vaccine discussion. There are no absolutes. You can't just say that it is all "ok". There is no proof. There are no long term studies because the lobbying efforts have killed any effort to get studies done.
There are billions, probably trillions, of dollars on the line. This isn't a simple conclusion of "oh, this is what I believe" and we go on.
Personally, I think anyone that makes a blanket conclusion that "everything Monsanto does must be ok" is living with their head in the sand.
If it's all safe, label things. If there are no side effects, conduct the studies to prove.
- Except that NONE of the food you consume happened in nature. We genetically modified all of our crops through milleniums of farming. I'm not saying it's allzarkonite
