MyMommies = suppressed homosexuality surfacing in anger about not being able to use a flash site

I like it, it's well built but there's definitely something about that doesn't sit quite right. I think it's probably just the in your face, information overload of the initial "page".

timelining something that actually quotes the inital thread makes you look like a fool
- posting this 20 comments later makes you look like an even bigger fool, especially because I wasn't timeliningmonospaced
- FIGHT FIGHT FIGHTbigtrickagain

Hey man, I wasn't timelining! If I was, I would have written, "timeline."
I was posting the original thread because it came from a QBN user who actually works at Grip Limited, he was sharing the site update, and there was a good discussion already started there. Back off.
- I fucking hate that timeline bullshit. I like this topic though: http://www.qbn.com/t…ayport
- Thank goodness I wasn't timelining an editor.monospaced

it is very full on, but that's why i like it. i wouldn't want every site to be like this, but this works for me.
- bigtrickagain0
@stewdio: it's definitely confusing on purpose, but i wouldn't say that it's ugly or difficult to navigate - it's deliberately "different" to navigate but once the fundamentals are understood it's very easy to use.
rga's site is nice, but nice in a more traditional way. i give heavy props to grip for doing something completely contrary and having the skill to pull it off very slickly. they're going to get a lot of attention for this site, and they'll deserve it (:

Wow, I'm pretty torn on this one. On on hand, I love it because it's different, bold and memorable. It's also built really well and the interactions are handled wonderfully (though they should have some kind of email form instead of launching my email client). On the flip side, I feel like they should offer a less intense version as a secondary choice (start the user off in the column view, but give the option of a simpler view). They already give you so many ways to navigate (click/drag, arrow keys, top nav, wii controller, etc), why not some sort of "simple view" that gets it out of the vertical columns and into something more usable. Keep the concept of the 1 pager and all the typography/infographic treatments, but present in a more linear way that doesn't require so much effort to explore.

@stewdio,
I think you have to put yourself in the prospective clients shoes on this one...
I have to argue, while the RG/A site is a fine example of web design the initial 'read' of the site has much less impact for a *digital/interactive* agency than the Grip site does.
The Grip site immediately communicates a playful interactivity... the RG/A site however is, in comparison, a little boring — especially for being the 'digital design agency of the decade'.

- This seems to be more about taste so we'll just have to agree to disagree.stewdio
- I can do that ;)d_rek

monospaced = "it steals the thunder of the guy who created it, shared it here, and started a discussion on it."
the EC brings it more prominence on this site, something i'm sure the guy who's promoting it is pleased about?
- sure, totally, and I included the original to contribute to the thread, that's all bromonospaced

I ❤ monospaced

i think it's fun for people that are in the industry. But show that to someone who is looking to hire your agency and he's going to be overwhelmed and lost in a few seconds.

that place is huge, is it all at one location? all those pets is either some neurotic grandmas or a pretty big team

An agency site is there to attract talent aswell. The site makes it look like a cool place to be.
