A DP friend turned me on to this the other day. The Beasts. A really REALLY well paced thriller, had me super on edge the whole time, loads of depth and backstory that continues to reveal, and some amazingly timeless choices.
10/10 would totally recommend.
- That looks really, really good. Tell me, though, do a lot of animals die? haha =(elahon

- When I was a kid, I tried to remake this shot with a broken glow stick and a dog syringe. It worked, but horrified my parents.garbage
- They have also cut out the entire storyline where his nemesis has hypnotic powers. Changes the movie a bit.lemmy_k
- Also, he has a good head on his shoulders, and one on his desk.lemmy_k

Directed by Ali Abbas who directed the final two ep's of The Last of Us. Pretty brutal and with plenty to say about Iranian society.

- Always compared unfairly with 2001. With this and Outland, Hyams made two of the best outer space films ever.face_melter

Lover the atmosphere in this. Great soundtrack, too:
- I quite liked that movie, but the sets were really weird because Polanski is a nonce and can't travel.PhanLo
- The sets were weird? What sets in particular?jagara
- You could tell they were on greenscreens quite a lot and obviously not in the US.PhanLo
- I seriously noticed none of that. Maybe that the water seen from the ferry kinda looked CG.jagara
- I liked it, just seemed low budget on the sets and it threw me off a bitPhanLo
