Second earthquake I've felt from this part of the world - first one, was, I think, in '86 - scared the crap out of me simply because my entire office moved, a lot. This one was a tad less scary as I was getting tattooed at the time and thus was already vibrating. =]

That area is part of the ancient plate boundary that formed the Appalachians. It's also part of North America that was under a kilometre of glacial ice for thousands of years, and is prone to isostatic rebounding (the crust is popping back up).
