A rare warning has been issued by the US Geological survey today, warning of an increased risk of a damaging earthquake (magnitude 5.0 or greater) in central Oklahoma. There have been more earthquakes in Oklahoma (per mile) than California this year, prompting the USGS to issue their warning today (May 5, 2014).
This warning is the first such warning to be issued for a state east of the Rockies.

A 6.8-magnitude earthquake early Saturday struck offshore not far from Fukushima, Japan

Was in a 4.6 one today here in Jersey (the island, not the state).
Only a shudder and felt the ground move beneath my feet. I'm sure not much to those who live NZ, Japan or SF but very unusual for our neck of the woods.

Yesterday a 6.6 at Chile as well.

All good here. Definitely woke me up though. Big jolt and then about 10 seconds of just rolling rumble and shakes of buildings. Erie!

Wife had to slap me awake, i would've slept through it all. Cat went shitwired.

My cat didn't give a shit. Dog slept through it. The few seconds of it I experienced I could feel more of a bias from right to left (the direction of the waves from the epicenter). Fascinating stuff.
