Why can't you just use the FONT PROVIDED?
Cut the fucking graphics ACCURATELY and don't replace the chosen fonts with ARIAL... you lazy dick.
10 years ago... I'd of let you get away with a few things - but the tools and scripts at your disposal shouldn't hold you back from maintaining branding and usability... ... stop being a lazy fuck... and do the job you told me you'd do.
:)

basically everyone working on a computer is a bit lazy
- pavlov0
thats another reason why i got out of web... too many developers ruining my shit
- What are you doing now?jonvictorino
- you can't learn?rosem
- I design primarily for band tour & retail merchandising. Quicker project turnarounds and less headaches...pavlov

That sounds more like incompetence than laziness...just sayin.

Just start designing in Arial.

You rely on the developer to slice graphics?
I don't know of many real developers that would want to do that or be good at it.
- HUH?? it's their job to slice the graphics how they see fit in order to work with their coding.iCanHasQBN
- Your saying designer isn't capable of slicing graphics? Gimme a fuckin break.ukit
- I used to slice the graphics and write out the exact spacing, margins, line-height etc. so they had no excuseukit
- why don't you just go ahead and code it at that point.MIJA
- Because the spec then served as a reference for multiple developers working on multiple pages of a projectukit
- But yea, I guess you're right, might as well build a simple prototype at that point.ukit
- You must work with some really shitty developers. You'd drive me up the wall.welded
- shitty? no. lazy, yesmonospaced
- Does it matter if they're good but lazy?welded

it can come down to how well your communication with the developer is. they might not have much of an aesthetic eye, after all you're the designer and they're the developer. i've found that the longer you work with a developer the better the shorthand between the two of you and therefore the faster and more smooth the process.

PonyBoy is probably wondering why he can't use Mrs. Eaves for the body copy of his website and taking his rage out on the developer.
- BattleAxe0
lazy as in Wordpress lazy
- welded0
Let's be fair and give equal time to designers who think they understand development: "can't you use includes in emails?"

I'm between a middleman (aka 'the agency') and the developer... I was brought in at the last minute because what they designed was painful for the client... ...so I redesigned / adjusted their content and gave the client a piece they're in love with.
What I'm talking about for the fonts are all navigation related. Very simple rollover graphics that can have alt data attached to them ('home' 'about us' etc)... and also buttons like 'learn more' that are all simple text graphics - but designed to... ohhhhhhh fuck it... I don't owe any of you cocks an explanation...
... do your fucking job right, lazy fucks.
:D

I'm not a CSS guy, more of a GUI guy but I measure the entire design and break apart each section with width and height outlines for header, nav, subnav, body, footer, etc. It helps the developer who does do CSS to make sure that it's all pixel perfect. I send over every font, all font sizes, colors, rollover states/colors, and I even measure the space between words in the nav. To be honest, if you leave your design in the hands of a developer without the above details or pure CSS then you shouldn't be surprised when it comes back all wonky, they're developers not designers.
- you're quite proud of OCD.airey
- there's the right way and the wrong way - not OCD just good designwhatthefunk
- No, that's OCD and vaguely insulting.welded

Arial's fine. I thought you were going to say some obscure font.
- ctcliff0
Don't forget that custom fonts and image slicing takes more development time and costs more money. That stuff needs to be scoped out ahead of time.

so what some of you clowns are saying is that a developer who's been hired to cut and build a site, given all appropriate fonts, psd's and content... isn't to be held responsible for outputting things correctly?
It's 'his job'... he agreed to do his part... this includes following the presentation provided...
The psd's are built to the pixel... it doesn't take fucking rocket science to cut something up by the numbers... ... it takes a touch of patience and professionalism...
... especially when you've committed to it ahead of time.i'm not talking anything fancy here, guys... I'm talking simple info graphics that happen to be done in a custom font...
... example:
- <VectorMasked
- I can't buy anything when i click your link.d_rek
- I can. Send $ and Ill do it for you.Peter

how much for the button?
- ukit0
