Our experimental/self initiated project to rebrand the government of Tasmania, Australia rolls on.
We just uploaded 3 options for review, critique, criticism, praise or indifference.

"we felt the current State Government brand failed to capture the unique sense of environment, heritage and culture that Tasmania has to offer"
I've seen the video and the logos are nice enough. The issue I have is that the logo is not a brand. There is no nod to brand values, a brand essence, key messages or proposition. It was impossible to understand what the logo was trying to represent.
Having briefly browsed the Tasmanian Government website it seems that the government has at least four major audiences - Tasmanian Businesses, Tasmanian Residents, Overseas Business and Tourism. Being attractive and satisfying all those audiences with one logo is going to be difficult to say the least.
Having dealt with public sector clients you are likely to end up with something designed by committee, which is how, i'd imagine, that their existing logo came into being. The best of luck to you.

I voted for B, pretty much based on formal reasons, although it feels far too stiff, conservative and expected for a government logo.. The third logo looks great applied to a balloon but when reduced to the size shown here, it just doesn't communicate much, although possibly if simplified (removing the translucent white wavy things) it might look sharper and more focussed... The typeface in option 3 is probably the nicest, but not a fan of the slight size difference, can see why you're doing it, but I'd look at another treatment in order to keep the two words at the same point size, not sure if "Tasmanian" is actually more important than "Government"?
Nice to see you guys are still going with this project!

It's kind of hard to judge which I like at that size. The nuances are indiscernible to me right now.

Sorry, the thing I think of first when I think of Tasmania is the complete and utter slaughter and extinction of the native peoples, and the final member of them walking 'out' to capture and eventual lonely death, amidst people that didn't understand him..
I mean, I'm sure it's lovely and all, now, but that's just what I read, and it stuck with me.

A – Looks more appropriate for a zoo.
B – I guess it's the shape of Tasmania, but it's boring.
C – Could be anything; generic, corporate, but airy.C won? Not surprising.
