Having "The..." in the name is not a trend, just a consequence of the English language. Pick a decade:
The Donnas
The The
The Pixies
The New York Dolls
The Who
The Coasters
The Andrew Sisters
and onward back in time.....The End.

SUNN O)))- SUNN O))) is taken from the amp. doesn't really applyBaths
- I know, but it still applies IMO. Why not? They could have just named it Sun or Sunn, since they really named it because of Earth.ismith
- Earth, using Sunn amps was just a lucky bonus.ismith
- Also SUNBEARS!ismith
- Not a lucky bonus... Sunn amps have amazing tone, thats the reason...fresnobob
- They were originally called Mars. They wanted to name it Sun because of the band Earth, the fact that they used Sunn ampsismith
- Sunn amps is why they decided to spell it the same way. It was a lucky coincidence ;)ismith
- It was because Earth used Sunn amps that they started using them too, since they were a cover band originally.ismith

The new band I'm working on is called Man And Beast, so it looks like we're bucking those trends listed above. Funny article!

Wow, 944 has no idea what they are talking about... The "The" one cracks me up, and its so wrong! Like, dude, did you care to notice that every other name on the list thats not in the "The" category doesn't start with the? Hmm...
- look at you! maybe if you didn't act like little bitch people would like yourayborn3000

Some of these bands have been around for years. When did these 'trends' start exactly? The Russian Futurists formed in 2000; You Say Party! We Say Die! in 2004. "The" band names became a joke 5 years ago, culminating in the Sum 41 video in which Will Sasso (as record exec) rebrands them as "The Sums".
