if you don't have a warranty and you need service you are f-ed with BMWs. My warranty ran out and 1 week later I had 3k worth of work that had to be done.
Not worth it, not one bit. Sold it right after I got it out of the shop.

my wives 323i has 147k on it and sure we've spent hundreds of bucks on maintenance but it still runs like a clock. How'd you like to drive a Ford or Pontiac with close to 150k on it?
- Done it several times. Especially as a teenager. No problem and easy to fix.ETM
- the difference is I can work on my new car.762mm
- Same here. My dad's 97 Ranger has 230k miles on it and has never had any major mechanical work, just new brake pads, tires, etc. Still going like a champ.xcreonx
- exactly, I know how to work on my car now. The Beemer, f-in forget about it.********
- I would think a brand new charger would be just as difficult to work on. unless they still make them like they did in the 60's.fooler2

- No, there is a heritage to the engineering of US cars, even modern ones, that makes it easier to work on somehow.ETM
- Or maybe just more familiar to those of us who worked on them growing up.ETM
- it's experience guys. I can work on any german car with my eyes closed, went from VQ to Audi to BMW.zarkonite
- sub VQ for VWzarkonite
- Same idea, just most of our generation in NA worked on domestics.ETM
- What do you mean "work on"? Many repairs today require expensive diagnostic equipment and special tools. On any car, Euro or American.Josev
- On any car, Euro or American. Btw, I've had VWs that I've put over 200k on.Josev
- there's software out there for diagnostics and reading error codes.zarkonite

I've had an S-10 and a Ranger both with over 115K and they were unreliable, leaked like a sieve, blew smoke and were barley highly safe.
Now I have a Nissan 720 4x4 that has 190k that is pretty much my daily driver and has never let me down ..... since my SAAB is always in the shop!

- < lead weights to balance out braking vibration on a 30k carfooler2
- The article says its to stop sound resonance (ie squeaking). Whats your source?ETM
- Also, WTF is brake balancing. The only brake balancing I know involves the hydraulic system.ETM
- You don't balance brakes like you do wheels.ETM
- Don't get me wrong, it's a shit fix regardless. Note BMW had a similar problem, but with a cleaner solution.ETM
- hahahaha, class********

Here's an example... fleet vehicle, 2005 Pontiac G6... full brake job, all 4 discs - $478.
Friends Volkwagen Passat Wagon, same deal within a month of the above, $1237.

what is the deal with the new cadillacs?
in the states, some people consider them a status symbol and everything, but you won't find them anywhere else.
I can understand the love for the early models, but this stuff?
I've never drove one, so I might not be the one to talk, but I'd like to assume there is some incredibly out of this planet engineering inside them, cause design wise... well I don't think it's working- I got this. I like it. Definitely the best looking SUV. Personally though, it ain't no Mercedes.fyoucher1
- You can tell its not as well built as a Mercedes or BMW.fyoucher1
- << wanna be drug dealer look.akrokdesign
- its ugly and TACKY TACKY TACKY. Specially made for insecure men. So gaudy.********
- fooler20
- the front looks terible, maybe the back view is nicerMeeklo
- Looks like mum and dad tried to pimp their ride. Sorry.MrT
- One things American cars are still guilty of is too much plastic embellishment.ETM
- but I dont think all american cars are ugly by no means, I was just wonder why a cadillac costs more than a ford or a dodgeMeeklo
- dodgeMeeklo
- Because its an premium brand. Higher end features. Same idea as Lexus is to Toyota.ETM
- Exacly. The Escalade is really just a tricked out Tahoe.fyoucher1
- Yeah, like an Lexus ES is a pimped Camry.ETM

I have a Infiniti G35 Coupe on a lease, its up soon. I am very happy with it, but I am lusting for a Challenger. I never owned an american car (most are POS). I am scared that I will buy and then regret it. I love those old muscle cars and the Challenger is the closest ill get in a modern package. What to do?
- Challenger is cool, but heavy and handles nothing like your G35. The weight eats up some of that 425 HP performance.ETM
- A 2011 5.0 mustang is worth considering. Different retro appeal, but better made (if only a little).ETM
- Besides a car like that is not about reliability or refinement. Its about rough around the edges fun!ETM
- I had a 525i, ditched it. Much happier with the Challenger SRT8********
- But I am a muscle car guy. Straight and fast.********
- i can totally picture you in that with your kids listenin to heavy metal on the way to school..e-pill
- she loves it, always saying "Daddy go fast!"********
- hmmm, so Challenger it is....ArmandoEstrada
- *High fiveETM

Armando... you live in California. There's hardly a better place to buy an original muscle car? Is it that you want the modern gadgets?
- Yes to all! Im love tech, muscle cars... so i figured the Challenger is right up my alley.ArmandoEstrada

It would be great to try and snag a classic muscle car. But there are a couple of factors that make it pretty tough to do.
1. It's almost impossible to find one that is in really good shape for under 30k. Ones that are in perfect shape are impossible to touch, 65-80k.
2. Having one as a daily driver is not really the best option. Those cars need attention. And unless you know how to work on cars I would advise against it. I was constantly working on my old cars , carbs, alternators, trans, hoses, belts etc. etc. Pretty much the whole damn car. But that was part of the fun.Go test drive the RT or the SRT8, you won't be dissapointed.

Oh, and you probably know this but stepping up to a 6.1 Hemi is gonna burn through the petrol. But, it's just gas.
I look at it this way, I am helping to deplete the worlds supply so we can move towards more efficient forms of energy ;)

Yeah, i like the challenger, SRT is the only way to go though!!! I'm friends with the designer of it, and I give him shit about the only thing i don't like, the tail pipes. They just don't seem to fit where they are.
Still like the camero and mustang better though. And after loving all those cars, i'll take my German car over all of them (E92 335i).
- Rumor is they are doing the SRT10 with the Viper engine. If so, that thing will be insane.********
