Cheers, great video! Do you need the stabilizing stick to get decent results?

gopro = good footage at an affordable price..
the functions are a bit weird to learn in the beginning.. like morse code to select different modes. the 720p 60 fps gives some real good results..
it's pretty much taken over in the snowboard industry, allowing a ton of companies/crews to put up smaller edits more frequently.
all filmed with a gopro hd.. and a little help with some of gopro's stabilizing equipment (ski-lookin' pole)and no, you can't review OR charge without a laptop (usb).

BUMP!
Mr whereRI, is the goPro any good? I've seen some amazing reviews and sample footage, but it looks a bit too good to be true?
Can you review your footage without downloading it to a laptop?

I decided, probably against better judgement, to splash out last week and get kitted out. there were some pretty god deals on at a local store, i picked up a burton board from last season with good bindings for 450 and then went a bit crazy on goggles, gloves, armour, and what not but the best purchase was probly the burton boots. they like wearing a puffy cloud on your feet. Sets you back a bit, but i figure the world may end soon so why not snowboard in comfort?
i also went nuts and bought this...
- oops the case is empty, but i have the gopro to go inside it :)whereRI
- awesome mate, would love a camera to record my bails! :-)Not_Just_Another

So, the wife has asked what I'd like for xmas. I've been slowly accumulating all the 'soft' gear (clothing etc) necessary for boarding, but I'm now looking to make the bigger jump into either boots, binding or board. Up until now I've been renting all three, but I think in the long run it'll be better/cheaper to buy my own.
I'll only go once a year, so I can't spend too much. Which would be the best route to for first? boots? binding? or board?
I'd say I'm at a beginner to intermediate level in that I've been a fair few times before and I'm just looking to get more confidence out on the slopes - maybe try a jump or two.
What do you reckon?
- Get your boots first. You won't care about trashing a hire boardgoldieboy
- good point - I was erring towards boots - just for the sake of having something comfortableNot_Just_Another
- any suggestions on good beginner-to-intermed... boots?Not_Just_Another
- I'm a skier :) But the same applies.
*ducks from snowboard abusegoldieboy - Have a chat with the guys at Snow & Rock but buy elsewhere, their prices are ££££goldieboy
- ebay, if you have time. and yes def. boots, a cheap board with screw you, cheap boots will just annoy youProjectile

is it just a regular board?- yeh. been on one of these. its just a deck with runner type things on the bottom. its impossible.dirtydesign
- no, you are talking about the snow deck, (see ^) these guys look like they are using just a regular boardMeeklo
- right. but some of the people are just riding a skateboard deck thing. nothing attached to bottom. they sell cheap ones at sports authority.dirtydesign
