Hi all
I was making a business card this morning and had a minor argument.
My co-worker was insistent that 'email' had a lowercase E, while 'Tel: ' and 'Mobile:' were capitalised. She said that as it was an abreviation of 'electronic mail' and therefore should begin with a lowercase E.
Needless to say I wanted to attack her with samurai sword. I'd like to know who was right. Thanks!

and Tel should have a "." after it, because its an abbreviation of Telephone.
Tel.: ( my boss loves this kinda things ).....

considering this is a baby of a word it hasn't had time to grow any common standards.
I'd say you could use email or Email or even eMail depending on the brand. Similarly you can use Tel or tel; or even T or t, let alone Phone, phone, P, p, Ph or ph.
There are no standards in this.

'tel' did have a . after it! thanks.

the BBC style guide recommends 'Email' btw, which is suitable for their brand.

I don't think there are standards for this

hahaha, the old "official" spelling was E-mail. Then it was Email. Then it became email. Sometimes you see e-mail as well. Honestly, do whatever you/they want. It makes no difference.

Turn that minor argument into a major shitstorm!
Do you even need the word "email" regardless of punctuation? Isn't an email address sort of self-explanatory?- <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<monospaced
