He's union, so he's directly responsible for the fare hike, as well as the wildcat strike last year. This is how he thanks us. 25% of his income is from taxpayers. He might even be one of the few dozen making over $100,000/year.

that man has no legs.

For those of you who dont know about the TTC, its Toronto's overly paid Public Transit system that likes to strike every couple years to demand more money, then in return they hike the fares up.

oh lay off..dude looks old and probably needed a nap.....it's not like he was personally involved in the rate hike.
saw that photo on the cover of the Toronto Stun today and totally felt bad for the old dude....he's probably in major shit now cuz some fuckwit snapped a pic of him on their phone.a few years ago this wouldn't have been a big deal..most folks would have just counted themselves lucky and snuck past and got a free subway ride out of it.
now it's suddenly headline news.
normally i'm a big fan of citizen journalism, but this is fucking retarded.- Its another excuse to complain at the overly paid ttc workerswademd
- lay off?!!? Whatever! Give the job to a student for half the pay that wont sleep on the jobscrap_paper
- yeah, because there's no better customer experience in the world than that of students.whatever dude.exador1

^ yeah ofcourse he isnt involved in the fair hike but still, where is the service improvements? Wellesley station is getting sliding doors installed as we speak... i would rather have an extra bus on the road than sliding doors.
Oh, and they just installed a new handicap entrance to the station when it doesn't even have an elevator to help the handicapped down to the subway... tell me... whats the point of that?
- exador10
dude, i'm totally with you in that sense....TTC has and always will stand for 'take the car'...lol...
it's fat at the top and rotten to the core....the TTC has always been run like it was Harold Ballard still running the Leafs...(if you recall it was basically, 'dont' put any money into it, who fucking cares, people will still come out because we're the only game in town')It rather makes me sick to hear them bitch, whine and complain and then up the fees all the time...and you're quite right...the service stinks.
however, what i hate is when the rank and file Joe Blow so to speak is suddenly and quite randomly made into the scapegoat for what i absolutely believe to be the fault of the rich fuckers on top....
that guy now suddenly finds himself in a shit-storm and will be the new poster-boy for all the shit the TTC have been doing for ages...

I don't begrudge the folks that work driving the busses and operating the subways to get a good/excellent salary..its an important job and they keep the wheels turning (no pun intended lol) but my guess is that there is a ton of suits in middle management and at the top that are just milking this fucker as much as they can....and they will be the first with their backs against the wall when my revolution comes!
* twists revolutionary mustache and chomps down on cigar and tries his best to look like fidel.

The entire TTC needs to be gutted. Top to bottom.
And these, lazy, overpaid, obnoxious douchebags can go get a real job... oh wait, they have no skills that would get them the same pay ANYWHERE.

driving thousands of thankless people through the crowded streets of toronto day after day and not killing them.
That doesn't strike me as very easy ;)

Hey man, thats the job description. If you can't take it find another job.
I'm sick of people letting TTC employees off easy because of how hard it is to deal with the public. No kidding its hard to deal with the public! It doesn't give them license to be lazy, rude and incompetent.
See, I wouldn't even apply for the job because I know I'd go postal within 2 weeks.
Don't get me wrong. The target of my angst is not only the workers and the union. The whole TTC is a disaster. And it pisses me off further because I completely buy into and rely on public transit. I hate suburban car culture and think it is one of the environmental downfalls of modern society. I believe that my tax dollars should definitely go towards supporting and improving public transit. And then I see both admin and workers taking advantage and eventually holding the whole city up for ransom.
BTW +1 on the Harold Ballard comment.
- agree and agreed dude. i totally know what you mean (and thanks for the kudos on the ballard thing...lol..one of my finer moments ;)

TTZZZ...!!! Cover of the damned newspaper made me laugh!!! Incorporating sleep with TTC; brilliant editorial...
BRILLIANT!!!

My beef is not so much on the workers, although most of the ones I meet are assholes right off the bat but I'm going to give them the benefit of the doubt that it's because there are some scary on of a bitches that ride the TTC. Such as the loser who lit up a TTC bus?
That said, TTC in general is terrible that they keep increasing the transit fees since they're in debt from creating additions to the system that's not even being used.
Where are the Japanese when you need them?

Although it could be all propaganda. Maybe the dude was about to sneeze or was having a huge belly laugh?
