The place was a bad idea from the get go; the place is a bad idea now. In fact, most French colonial states are in the worst of shape.
- I don't see how that relates to an earthquake.Corvo2
- Sure it does, get the f*ck off that corrupt, diseased island in the middle of Hurricane and Earthquake land. Simple.JazX
- Where should they go? Los Angeles?Corvo2

"get the f*ck off that corrupt, diseased island in the middle of Hurricane and Earthquake land. Simple."Earthquakes are rare here in DR.
Corrupt, sure.....diseased, maybe......but you wish you were living where it's summertime ALWAYS, and you're a fucking asshole.

Just read this on Guardian site:
"For US readers out there, the White House website has details of ways concerned Americans can give money to Haiti relief efforts. The simplest seems to be texting 'HAITI' to 90999, which will see $10 donated via your mobile bill, apparently,"

global warming. they told ya so.

Another way to donate, and this comes from the State Department (http://www.state.gov/)...this is really a brilliant and simple use of technology:
To help with relief efforts, text "HAITI" to "90999" and $10 goes to red cross & billed to your cell.

pretty fucking sad, all those in charge of building sub-standard buildings should be held accountable.
hopefully some of them were crushed by the same shoddy buildings that they built.
- This is a sub 3rd world country you're talking about - you forget that such standards are relative luxuries...detritus
- ismith0
@niko: well they were talking about it on sportscenter (to ployers from haiti with family/friends over there) and most of them were commenting on how most of the buildings are made by the people living in them. That is, forcing any kind of standards and such would just make them all homeless– I don't think that's really better.
- that's referring to the houses, shanties, etc. idk about larger buildingsismith

its very sad. there's 80,000 haitians in Canada and almost all of them are living in Montreal. And since Haiti is the only country in all Americas to speak french with Quebec province, we have some kind of a link with them. Lot of public personalities in Quebec are haitians.
All my sympathy to them. They need our help.
