It was an earthquake not a tsunami. Only a tsunami warning was issued.
"A tsunami watch was posted for Haiti and parts of Cuba, the Dominican Republic and the Bahamas, but there was no indication that a tsunami had been generated. Historical data suggested a destructive, widespread tsunami was not a threat, the USGS reported."

^By 1803 Napoleon was ready to get Haiti off his back: he and Toussaint agreed to terms of peace. Napoleon agreed to recognize Haitian independence and Toussaint agreed to retire from public life. A few months later, the French invited Toussaint to come to a negotiating meeting will full safe conduct. When he arrived, the French (at Napoleon's orders) betrayed the safe conduct and arrested him, putting him on a ship headed for France. Napoleon ordered that Toussaint be placed in a prison dungeon in the mountains, and murdered by means of cold, starvation, and neglect. Toussaint died in prison, but others carried on the fight for freedom.

Sanjay Gupta : poor little thing.
He got the swine flu in Afghanistan, so hard...
and now he's in Haiti reporting for CNN. Haiti is lacking of medical rescuers and this son of a bitch plays the journalist instead of helping people...

The funniest thing just occurred to me. When Katrina and the waves hit NOLA, everyone was up in arms over the amount of time that it took the US Government to respond to the situation. Anti-Government this and that, mostly from Democrats and non-US citizens. Now that this earthquake terrorizes Haiti, there doesn't seem to be that much of an outrage.Odd...!? Are Haitians less world citizens than whomever else?
- Wow. You just can't stop being a dick, can you? It's just ground into your being.Dr_Sparkleshine

its very sad. there's 80,000 haitians in Canada and almost all of them are living in Montreal. And since Haiti is the only country in all Americas to speak french with Quebec province, we have some kind of a link with them. Lot of public personalities in Quebec are haitians.
All my sympathy to them. They need our help.
