i'll only support the gay union if we ban women from voting. there, my hat is in the political ring.

I have 2 comments:
1.) I would put money on my assumption that homosexual relationships are seen as unnatural by 95% of any culture or society anywhere in the world. It is scientifically provable that it is not a biologically natural expression of human existence. It does exist in 'nature' but it is without question, deviant in the truest sense of the word.
2.) I think equality is a sincere but hollow argument that many of you stand on. There cannot be true equality unless there is a single source which defines it. Most of us (regardless of what side we fall on) actually exemplify inequality while we try to prove the value of equality.
- oh for fucks sake - if it happens .. it's natural. get used to it.lukus_W

- Is how you speak to me the model of equality you want others to adopt for the gay community?Prev
- yes. ironic isn't it.airey
- you said it.Prev
- i call my gay friend's cunts also, although i doubt we'd be friends Prev.airey
- equality in so far as same rights. calling someone a douche isn't against anyone's rights.airey
- I think we can all learn more about what equality really really is. We may not be able to be completely cordial friends but I would hope to respect you just as much anyone else. That doesn't mean I have to agree with you.Prev
- ..would hope to respect you as much as anyone else even though I don't respect your views.Prev
- well said. truth is i struggle with people who are homphobic, racist or sexist.airey

so, to clarify, am i being natural while i nail my old lady in the pooper, while wearing a ball-gag (me, not her), she's tied up with fishing line (so it cuts) wearing a plastic bag over her head (her, not me, obviously, i mean i did say 'her'), while my next-door neighbour films us with a handycam for a youtube family collection? or not? i'm a little confused.

Ask yourself this: are we all conscious human beings? Are we capable and determined to make our own decisions? If you say yes to both of these, it wouldn't matter if your species is on the brink of extinction– you could still choose to be gay if you wanted. The United States was formed solely to embrace this kind of liberty to the greatest extremes that does not directly harm others, and why I'm sick of everyone's pussyfooting around on all these issues– civil unions (gay AND straight, see my post on the last page if you missed it), prohibition of controlled substances, our fucking foreign policy, etc.
I have absolutely no problem with people who find homosexuality immoral. Many of my good friends feel this way, and I don't hold it against them, it's simply over the line of their beliefs– no matter how arbitrary. But likewise I have no problem with the gay couple down the street, no matter what they do in the bedroom. If everyone on Earth was dead except them and one girl, sure, I would hope that they could find a way to donate some sperm but that would be their choice and thankfully, shit ain't that bad.

in biology homosexuality happens in some species to prevent overbreeding putting a strain on available resources. i assume the same thing is trying to happen in humans, but some people have a need to control other people. that's that i have a problem with

I despise the 'it's not natural argument', it's a hollow argument that doesn't stand up to any criticism. It only makes sense if you believe in a vengeful, controlling, god.
Anything that occurs is, by definition natural. There was never one time when everything was 'just right' that we need to hang on to. The world and society have always been in a state of flux and change and always will be.
Rather than ask 'is it natural', I think it's more important to assess whether any good is likely to come from it.
As corny as it sounds - if two people love each other, their relationship is not going to be detrimental to society.
In some countries homosexual men are hunted down and murdered for simply being homosexual. The reason? ... 'god doesn't approve' / 'it's not natural'.
It's utter bullshit.
And equality is not absolute. It's relative and it relates to freedom under law. No one is - or would want to be - the same. But people deserve the same chances to make a decent life for themselves.
- I can't say I agree with everything that occurs being natural per se, but I understand your sentiments.ismith
- Of course, that could easily be due to a difference in perspective on what natural is.ismith
- (you'll see what I mean in my next post)ismith
- I guess it depends on yr definition of natural -> I think natural means 'occurs in nature'lukus_W

Enter a variety of situations:
A father and his son wish to marry and enter a homosexual relationship, perhaps adopting a child (for this example, assume they are aged 50 and 25).
While asleep, a dog enters its female owner. Having been emotionally broken by her interpersonal relationships, she enjoys it and believes she has fallen in love with the dog. She goes about life as any other, job, vacation, etc except that she has regular intercourse with the pet. This is not kept secret.
A man and woman, one of them determined to have diminished mental capacity due to a birth defect, wish to get married. It is widely believed that the person of "inferior" mental capacity is incapable of understanding the situation and truly consenting. The other is convinced that they love each other.
How does each case make you feel? What would you do as a bystander? As a government? Apologies for these being so lurid, but they're taken from actual examples I've encountered even in this rural region of northwest Connecticut. Does this affect what you perceive as moral, natural, or anything else?
I wish I could further explain my ideas, but without the necessary time it would probably just make things even harder to understand.
- In your second example you left off "This is not kept secret..and used for moneymaking opportunities on the interwebs."Dr_Sparkleshine

What I find odd is strict catholics are conservative, they have to be to be against masturbation, pre-marital sex, homosexuality, condoms etc. Conservative people also generally want governments to stay out of their business. UNTIL it gets into their core beliefs regarding sex. Then they are all about government stepping in to define the rules in their vision.
And if you are catholic and don't define your beliefs by what the vatican says, why the hell are you defining yourself as a catholic?

Slowly but surely, just about everything the Catholic church is against becomes not only legal, but really, really popular! Look at divorce. Look at birth control. Look at porn. Look at masturbation. Someday, some Pope will realize that telling people they can't have it, or they shouldn't have it, just makes it irresistible to absolute masses of people.
Probably the only way to forestall gay marriage in most western countries is for the Pope to heartily endorse it, and make it a sacrament!
