thats why economy crashed!
continue to use your plastic and feed the banks!- * said on an humourous tone *benfal99
- Banks get very little, if anything, if you pay it off every month. Customers like grafiske are called 'dead beats'.luckyorphan

Anyone have any real good cards with good paybacks?
there is none.- unless you got 0% apr. which only stays that for a while.akrokdesign
- Mine is pretty good for a student. I still can't decide between that and Air Miles, but the payback helped this month.juhls

amx

amex membership rewards are usually the way to go. unless it's a blue then you have to pay it off every month, which would be good for you. look for gift certificates and cards, which are sometimes half the points of a similar check or cash reward. plus with amex you can dispute any charge no questions asked.
- miles are usually the worst value because of the blackout dates and restrictions.johndiggity

I use the American Express Jetblue card. Got 4 free flights last year.

i got a letter from my bank offering me 0% apr just so I would use my credit card.
I don't understand using credit when I can just use money instead.

Lets see, you can't pay online with cash, except the very few places with interac online.
Also most good CCs will offer you protections on purchases. Most people don't even realize it. If you bought something online with the CC and got scammed or something was damaged, the CC can reimburse you. Sure, its a bit of a process, but good luck getting that if you paid cash or check.
CC's also offer nice records on purchases for various, useful applications and can be a third party in a dispute.
Lots of reasons...

thats all well and good but you're lost if you live off them...no wait AIRMILES! woot
- also ever hear of paypal? every site has paypal and thats basically casheieio
- So don't live off them. Why do people assume to use one you are irresponsible?ETM
- You put your faith in PayPal over a CC... and allow them direct access to you bank account to pay cash... wow.ETM
- i don't think people assume they're irresponisble its the dependancy on credit for like everything, its not goodeieio
- Its called not carrying cash around then paying the CC balance at the end of the month. Not hard to grasp.ETM
- i'm not saying cc are useless and bad its the CC lifestyleeieio
- And I am just saying you need not get in debt to take advantage of CCs.ETM

Not sure why you would pay a company to spend money you already have. Use a debit bankcard online, works just like a visa. Airmiles? How is that working out?
- ETM0
Airmiles works great. Company charges go on the card, gets paid off monthly and I get the Airmiles. You can buy products with Airmiles. Even movie passes. I haven't paid for a movie in 4 years. No restrictions on new releases. Two admissions, 2 drinks and 2 popcorn for 175 miles. Just have to pay for butter ($0.50).
Also just booked 2 tix to Halifax via Airmiles, only had to pay the fees and taxes (which was still $300) ;( . Airmiles has far less restrictions to book than card or airline offered miles.
- Also my bank here is Canada (BMO) offers clients Airmiles monthly for being a customer.ETM

if you can pay off a credit card every month, it's great to use to build up your credit. it's also preferable to use a credit card for certain purchases where the seller puts a giant hold on your card, like gas, hotels, and online merchants. if they put a large hold on your debit card and your balance is low you may get hit with overdraft fees.
- Buying a house or a car is a way better way to build credit. But that is all you really need credit for, so...DrBombay

Actually maintaining a 25-30% balance on a CC does better for your credit report. It demonstrates 'responsible usage'. They find it more informative to know someone can use credit without abusing it rather than just paying it off monthly.
- But I still prefer to pay it off by not charging more than I have cash for.ETM

What are you guys using all of this credit for?
- buying a house or car and getting a low interest rate.johndiggity
- I already have that...DrBombay
- And never played the CC game. Well once when I was 18.DrBombay
- Yup... more credit/better credit rating, cheaper rates.ETM
- You are paying to use their money. Even if you think you aren't.DrBombay

Business wise, monthly or annual expenses:
-hosting, domains, online services (billing etc) hardware, software.
You can pay cash (if possible), or pay CC, get some protections, get a few perks or rewards, pay within 25 days and pay no interest. So why not?
- Well some of those apply to anyone, business or personal.ETM
