I do miss the CBC coverage. Their online videos of events were 10x better too. Well, gotta work with what we have.
That MTV interview stuff is cringeworthy, but I've come around to it as I noticed that the athletes don't seem to mind it. The interviewers, athletes, an coaches all seem like really good friends or something and try and get the viewer into their world, but it's not as effective as it could be. At least they don't pester the athlete with more info about why they won silver or bronze instead of gold.

Bob Costas is such a bitch.

The ice conditions were pretty bad though (sure, "unacceptable"– fuck you Bob Costas for repeating everyone else almost word for word). Glad it's all fixed up but now figure skating is back on... *back to QBN et al

- I wanted to find the poster they showed on Friday but Google Images gave me nothing.BuddhaHat

Sometimes I like watching the figure skating pairs because half of the girls are my age. Then I realize they're probably getting banged by their partners, coaches, or whatever. I'm speculating mind you, but the thought does put a damper on it as far as I'm concerned.
- They do. Particularly by their partners. Makes sense.juhls

It's blasphemy to be on skating on ice and not playing hockey.

my favourite moment was when Brian Williams said welcome to CBC instead of CTV.

"It's blasphemy to be on skating on ice and not playing hockey. "
I call bullshit. It takes just as much skill to do those other sports, if not more. It's not *that* easy to be graceful on the ice compared to beating the shit out of people.
And this is coming from someone who loves hockey.- Guess you never watched that reality series with hockey players competing with figure skaters ;)juhls
- lol - i'm just kidding. they're fine sports as well.sequoia
- just nowhere near as cool as hockey! :)sequoia
- I think I'm reacting to like 10 different men (no joke) plus the media telling that hockey is the only sport that matters.juhls

Maëlle Ricker is the first Canadian woman to win Olympic gold on home soil. It's probably because Lindsey Jacobellis (USA) didn't quality for the final, but I'm fine with that. Jacobellis was the athlete in 2006 that showed off by doing an extra trick and ended up falling (allowing a different athlete to win gold). Ricker suffered from a concussion after falling at those same Olympics. We had Dominique Maltais win bronze during that event. This time around, Maltais fell too many times and didn't make it to the final, but Ricker did. If only these people all made it to the finals at the same time ;)
(Bilodeau was the first man and person to win gold in Canada for Canada the other day in moguls)
- hey now plz don't excuse our win because of USA's fail... its snowbX... anything goes.inkpink
- us men stole our gold yesterday. shit happens in boarderX.inkpink
- and Maëlle she held her line like a rock when Jaco went down.inkpink
- haha, I was joking around based on what has happened with USA vs. Canada during the past few days :)juhls
- ok then.. but lets just be sure... Maëlle totally earned that gold.inkpink
- yes.juhls

Does anyone else think that Dick Button looks like he will grow older to look, and be exactly like Mr. Magoo?

Men's hockey wins 8-0 over the powerhouse that is Norway. ;-)
The Swiss are next, followed by the Yanks. LET'S DO THIS!!!

I think I heard the word "fuck" and I know I heard the coach saying "shit" at the top of the pipe when White found out he won the gold before his final run. Announcer apologized for the profanity, nothing like an Olympic Gold F Bomb
- yeah. that was kinda funny :Dismith
- did you hear an f bomb too?whatthefunk
- I also heard both of those words (and didn't think it was 'live' here).ghandolf
- He's talented, that one.juhls

I have been trying to get into thasi winter olympics thing.
never saw the "sport" in it but some intense stuff going on.
It seems that teh athlete are really supportive of each other, which is cool.
also the medals are designed/made made out of electronic waste materials !
