i don't think incorporating the swirl works in the type.

I'd go for the last one, since you have a separate parts which can be used as a single icon.

My vote is for #1 and #2. I think the first one keeps the consistency of the letters across the board, but the 2nd one makes the circle-ish graphic look like its supposed to viewed. In the first one the graphic looks a big fat and bulged but that's what the font technically implies.

or 1st one, with the black+blue part f the D as single object.
then you would have a nice D as single icon.

What are you guys smoking, these are all unreadable. Don't overthink it and keep the symbol separate from the type.
- i.e., bottom one, remove black line, move symbol closer to the typeukit
- but make the symbol move like 6ukit

- I didn't have any trouble reading these. They strike me as the same kind of vibe that IGN and a lot of gaming related websites push.

next to the last one.... but note that it's too unreadable, and not easily scaled, printed on various papers,etc... it's kind of like adding too much treble and bass to music, or making an album of nonstop guitar solos, the cooler-than-cool extra pop max-ed-out feeling can make actual communication a bit less clear...
