This happens on a daily basis I am sure. When it is your idea that somehow goes public, without your knowledge it somehow feels different.

i had a bunch of light line writing comps for assorted brands i had been pitching around and threw my non brand associated experimentation on flickr at the beginning of '05 while in sf. while light writing is nothing new, this is the same year it just blew up for sprint's ads. i had drawn faces on cars buildings etc. i really felt that year like something was amiss, but ended up letting go.

I had the name “Up” ready to go for an album, then in the next 6 months Peter Gabriel, REM and Shania Twain all released albums called “Up”.
- Brilliant.********
- And now they even released an animation movie with that name! Shame! Sue them!Jordy

a lot of times ideas spring up simultaneously because something in the culture has identified the need or the idea to those open to find it. I tend to come up with a lot of ideas that I try to tell everyone I can about 2 weeks before the execs have the same or similar idea. Not sure what to think.

ninjasavant, I totally believe that as well, but when it is the "exact idea" for the "exact client" especially a small brand, it feels a little odd.
Honestly I am glad they did it!
- Yeah, I've taken the tact of not worrying about who gets credit. Better ideas make a better world, right?ninjasavant

According to this theory there is an omnipresent field which our minds are joint through and have access to on subconscious level.
Once somebody invents something it's up in the air...

this is a less nuts direction of thought:

if the ideas crossed cultures the omnipresent field theory could be amazing but a more rational reason is that the events and media that inspire these ideas are shared by us all. being human and having similar approaches and thought processes means that the odds are great on a few people, inspired by a movie, tv show, art, magazine, music, etc etc will come to a similar idea. usually when these ideas pop-up their shared in the same culture. ie: western world in our case, as we all share much the same media.
or we're all being controlled by a lazy fat controller with little or no imagination.

well that is really lame if they spoke to you and took your ideas and went with them, though let's understand that passing off 'green' ideas is far from new and from what I read briefly from your original idea, there doesn't seem to be that much similarity at all, except for the usual idea of 'how can we look responsible and caring' – which has for the most part been totally dull and cynical for a long time now.

Lesson: keep your fucking mouth shut about your ideas till you get paid for them lol.

many times I had an Idea in my head, just to see it on the internetz a few days/weeks later

That same thing has happened to me on 4 occasions. You can not help to think someone got a hold of your idea. In reality a good idea is a good idea and someone else will most likely concept it. http://www.buzzfeed.com/peggy/ik…
Presented this idea 1-2 years before.
