It's true that sitting at a computer for too long can add a few pounds but exercise is quite time consuming. Therefore, I've settled on the following solution: eat less.

"...sitting indoors all day in front of a computer screen..." As a freelancer, I relate.

If you have an iPhoe - Download this app
http://runkeeper.com/Using the iPhone's GPS capabilities, you can track your fitness activities, including distance, time, speed, pace, calories burned, elevation, and path traveled on a map.

it really seems to balance out my brain and keep fresh ideas coming in, stagnation seems to be a problem we all face in this mdern world of the interwebs and computers. its beginning to become quite addictive too which is good, well better than crack anyways.
maybe ill turn into one of those fitness freaks! lol

Is it getting slightly too cold to run in Amsterdam? I'll be moving there in a few weeks so will have to figure out some routes.
- its pretty damn cold, specially at night, but rain is the problem, not the cold :(********

yeah, i used to hate running, i mean absolutely detested it. i started at the beginning of the year to shape up a bit for my wedding. i wasn't fat by any stretch of the imagination, but running is making me really lean.
and i found i started to enjoy it. i try to do a couple of runs in the week, then both days at wknd. longest run is about 6 miles which i'm pleased with, but i want to go further. it does give you a buzz. best thing is getting out in the countryside and getting a bit muddy.
i have no intention of doing a full marathon... yet
- yeah there is a definite 'feeling' you get from a good run********

I plan on doing a 10K each year (started last year). I hate running, but I like that sense of accomplishment.
If you don't train at all (like yours truly), it's horrible at the beginning. I started to get into after the first KM or so and then I was into finishing the race at a respectable position. I definitely felt some pain for a couple of weeks after because of my lack of training. I'll try to do at least couple of months of work beforehand this time.

Running is all good IMO.
But not on a treadmill... get out there see the country.

haven't ran since last Saturday (about 3.5 miles) due to some stupid respiratory problems. Felt better today, so I got up early to run ... I made it about 3/4 of a mile before I felt like my lungs were in a vice grip and had to stop and walk the rest. WTF?

I did a 10k for Cancer Research in September... took me 59mins (not too bad to say I've had 2 cruciate ligament reconstructions in my knee and only started running 3 months prior to the 10k). My fella did it in 41 mins, the shit head. We only run once a week now... It's too cold.
- last time I ran a 10k I did it in 1:00:12... and my shithead alcoholic friend did it in 42 minutesPoint5
