I really admire pro retouchers, they have a great eye and the ability to make any photo look spectacular. But, if I have to retouch my own photo, what would be the best way to do this? I've checked a few tutorials and Lynda, but i'm not too convinced.

dropdown - make shift ring flash....kindalinearch

yes... it's a pseudo-ringlight, results in near-shadowless light and/or halo around subject if the subject is close to a background.... this effect can be done in various ways, some alot cheaper than 2x 580ex's and 2 pocket wizards....the lens is about $2k, each flash is about $450 each pocket wizard is $170 and the body is about $2k....

There's a lot of BS on there, but there's tons of professional retouchers, tutorials, advice, and feedback as well.

This style reminds me of Anna Wolf's early stuff. Has that relax, early morning 70's feel to it.

Question. Someone posted this on the Public Choice...
http://timedsg.com/blog/60-fanta…
How do photographers compose photos? I've seen behind the scenes studios where the subject is shot on a studio, and the final product ends up looking crazy! like a forest, city, dessert, etc.My question is, where do they get these bg or additional images from? I guess some of them would be stock or commissioned, but there are specific stuff like fire, fences, smoke, etc. that you can't find as stock. Are there 'secret' places used to compose such images? Is it all 3d rendered?
some samples...
