Everybody get on the telly immediately

My parents were close to voting for BNP just because nobody else offered such strong work-class values. In the end, they didn't vote at all. We are in one the most diverse countries in the world here in the UK, our taxes allow us to have a free health service (which we still complain about), arts and science which is always pushing boundaries and we are one of the most respected countries in the world. It's good we have people to make sure things are run fairly, because we are a pretty greedy breed of animal.
Don't get me wrong, it's a tough job balancing everything, but all I hear are people complaining. We have left wing activists having a go about our countries stance on climate change, we have right wing politicians like Nick Griffin convincing millions that we need to get back to early war-time values which is pathetic. We all want to be heard, but it's sad that we all have something to moan about, because my life is pretty good right now! Me me me me meeeeWe shouldn't stop people saying what they want, just educate people properly and encourage a more thoughtful and humane lifestyle. Maybe?

"I'd like to think that given the airtime the BNP would talk themselves into a corner but for all his abhorrent policies, he's pretty savvy"
Surely you don't think that. I always think he comes across as inarticulate, shifty, duplicitous and also pretty thick. I always think its good to give him coverage because anyone watching who isn't already a fervent racist would be completely put off by him.
I haven't actually seen a great deal of him, but that's the impression I have got from the brief glimpses over the years. I'm actually quite worried now if he's capable of working it like a go-sistah.
- He knows he's got a chance to reach millions, I'd bet he won't show his real side.jamble

followingthe Real Nick Griffin
"Your democratically elected, indigenous, bonk-eyed representitive. I'm a danger to others and a national fucking disgrace"

Despite my vehement opposition to all forms of violence and intolerance, and religious or racist bigotry, when it comes down to the massive great kick-off that Britain will become, between the chavs and the muslim teenagers, I'd choose burkahs and 5am parayer calls over burburry caps and donk music anyday.
- Didn't you leave?detritus
- i don't want either, thank you very much.hans_glib
- I did leave, but maintain family and friends and interests there.
I grew up on the biggest housing estate in europe.mikotondria3

We live in a democracy, and they are democratically elected. Just because we dislike their views, that does not mean that they cannot air them. The advantage of free speech is that it encourages debate and freedom of thought, not just what one group wish them to say. As much as I loathe their politics they are free to promote their views as long as they do not incite racial hatred (which they don't) or condone violence to achieve their aims.
60million people died to save the world from Nazism (not facisim) and the over riding factor was that our life of freedom should not be impinged upon by anyone else. Just because we dislike what the BNP stand for, that does not mean that we should neuter them. They should be defeated by intellect and passion, not by idiots like the UAF who feel that they have a god given right to decide who is allowed to speak and who is not - and that philosophy is more akin to Nazism than what the BNP espouses

The thing is they'll tone t down for their ticket... we're just about keeping immigration down to acceptable levels in line with other EU national policies. But the core principle of that is intolerance, and given the power, their intolerance will begin to spread, beyond race, across religion, and right down the road to genetics and ideology. You don't make the first incision with the thick end of a knife now do you, eh?
^ Just made that phrase up. Yesterday, I thought of another great phrase that should become a mainstream saying...
"Don't piss on the toilet paper before you take a shit"
I'm just waiting for a suitable moment to deploy that one.
- I've been waiting to use 'don't piss up my back and tell me ita raining' for quite some time now.shitehawke
- lowimpakt0
nice one for your views Detritus.
Immigration isn't just a British debate although the structure of the immigration into the Britain reflects its colonial past.
One of the founding principles of the EU if the free movement of people and I would defend this principle to my grave.
i may be biased in this debate because I am an immigrant in the UK but i just happen to be a white western european immigrant.
- vespa0
i wouldn't choose either.
people should just live and let live.
- lowimpakt0
the whole britishnees/economy/immigration debate is fascinating.
I sat through a presentation by Charles Leadbeater that showed that lots of the British Economic "institutions" (Triumph Cars, ICI, Moss Bros, Madame Tussauds, Granada and ITV etc etc) are in fact the result of immigration(s)

There was something on the TV a while back about Nick Griffin, maybe "have I got news for you" or something like that questioning why he had something against coloured people or immigrants.
Whoever it was on the program suggested that maybe it was because he was one of the only two boys at a Girls School and they suggested that the other boy was coloured and the one who got all the girls.

On a lighter note, if you've not read the "Babes" of the BNP article Vice Magazine did recently, it'll have you crying at the stupidity of what would be considered a typical follower: (Reasonably worksafe, in that there's no nudity) http://vice.typepad.com/vice_mag…
(Don't look at their faces though, you may turn to stone)
- chavs are fucking sexy, and dirty.Khurram
- Vice: How old are you?
Helen: 19. Wait, no, 18.mikotondria3 - yeah... they picked some pretty daft wide eyed young slappers.Amicus
- kelpie0
they'll ramp it up from their on the record stance about the difference between being "ethnically British" and a legal and welcomed British citizen (of pakistani/afro-carribean/blah descent) to full on ethnic segregation and expulsion in the unlikely event they ever gain any real power.
Not till then though, I mean; you don't piss on the toilet paper before you take a shit...
- Don't ever piss on the paper before actually shitting. Its just asking for trouble that is.Orbit
- jamble0
I also saw something recently that they're being forced to review their policy on who is allowed to join their party because they're (predictably) not inclusive enough to all areas of society.
- must be "ethnically British" I'd imaginekelpie
- haha that's hilarious!! Can you just imagine a black person in the BNP!!!Projectile
- Projectile0
is there a BNP member near you? check this out!!
- kelpie0
"haha that's hilarious!! Can you just imagine a black person in the BNP!!!"
they wouldn't know what to do; their greatest PR coup in history and simultaneously the thing the fear and hate most. I think a black hole would open up in Nick Griffin's brain and suck him into oblivion

I remember that stupid thread about fat people causing global warming, written from a bnp person,
that was funny,
