unfortunately, designing for kids and house party flyers are two areas where trendy design just does not work. In order to make it truly effective, you need to friendly it up a bit, make it less slick. Darken the colours so they're at least close to full power.
The trick to making this good is finding a way to make it awesome nonetheless
- aah i just read janne's post. Yeh pretty much the same thingProjectile

IN SHORT:
MOVE INTO THE MIND OF A YOUNG KID, NOT IN THE MIND OF A DESIGN SATURATED WANKER!

I agree with pascii...Trace over the letters as best you can. It could add some playfulness but still keep the "parent friendly" vibe. Maybe you could do that thing where one of the letters is a silhouette of an actual toy.
- You mean, like, a silhouette? :)********
- like, yes. like ok? Like how come you like didnt get it.....like.jnnbugg

no.
it's very plain in b&w
colors need more though/saturation
yellow no good at all
feels like a warehouse that Chucky might be stored in, but not even that cool

- a change of colours to the original rainbow order, and a few cheesy ideas lol :)instil_design
- customize the H
i don't like it******** - ill be changing back to the colours on the original one to not have any "connections"instil_design

The letters should look more toy-like. That could be a logo for anything.
- needs more fundbloc
- i think the fact its called toyshop gives that away :) not to be sarcastic or anything lolinstil_design
- it feels too structured for a toy shop.dbloc
- I'm with instil. The letter aren't being looked at individually.********

How about a different font? I like the fact that it's cleaner than your typical kids logo, but maybe something with a smidgeon more personality.
Will having a multi color logo like this make it difficult to print?
- Print = B&W********
- Unless you meant for color prints, then I guess yah, pricey.********

Yes needs to be more playful make something happen within the typ, I do like the font choice maybe make the O a ball bouncing into place.... I don't know. Or just throw one of those harness things around it, that horrible parents use and call it a day.
I would stick to a few colors... the rainbow is saying something else.
- typ = type... long daynicole_marie
- hmm the "something else" has made me think stick to the original colour order lol :)instil_design
- Don't do the ball thing. That's a Petsmart rip all day long.********

print it out and hand draw it. It will give each edge and corner a custom feel. Also this will allow you to draw sketches rather than jumping right on the computer.
- printing as we speak/type :Pinstil_design
- good call, it will have a cool hand drawn feel rather than such sharp lines and edges.capn_ron

set it in neutraface 2 and instant win or at least better that that
